- Fixed Aperture

- Super UD and Aspherical Lens Elements

I was looking for a lens to replace my Canon 18-135 that came with my T2i camera. I have gotten spoiled by the optical quality of my 100-400 lens. Although I like the range of the 18-135, I've found the 24-105 to be fine. What I'm most impressed about is that using the same settings and ISO with both lenses, well, the 24-105 gives me the quality I was hoping for. Yes, you pay for it and yes, it is not light weight, but if you are looking for serious quality of images, this will not disappoint. Makes me wish I had skipped the 18-135 altogether.

I have been using a 70-200 f4 for a year, and it is tack sharp at f4 and get even sharper when stopping down.
This lens is a little dissapointing.

This is possibly the only L series lens you might need if you are looking for all-purpose use! Can get fairly close to objects and still take a great landscape shot. Clarity is beautiful and what you expect from the L series lineup, however, it is a much heavier piece of glass, at almost 2 lbs. Also, not the best for low light situations at max aperture of f/4. All in all, my go to lens!

As a nature photographer used to fixed focal length lenses, I would set myself up along a waterfall, usually in an awkward position, and then have to change my 24mm to my 100mm when I wanted to get a close up of the falling water and rocks. This zoom gives me the freedom to be creative without changing lenses. It's also great walking through the woods for all sorts of mid-range shots. The lens is sharp front to back. The IS gives me three stops extra for handholding. The f/4 all the way through is a blessing. It is only heavy if you're not used to L series lenses. Another great Canon lens.

This lens replaced an old 18-55mm that came with my first Rebel and was using it on my 50D. It is fast, quiet, sharp and easy to use.
A bit on the heavy side but totally worth the extra weight and money. Very durable and well made.
Wish it was completely internal focusing but thats OK too.

As Arthur Morris said in one of his lectures, every time when the 24-105L is not with him he will have some regret moments. I could not agree with this more. In my opinion, this is the truly walk-around lens and delivers tack-sharp photos. Some people may say that the much more expensive 24-70L f/2.8 is sharper and faster. Well, that may be true but as a walk-round lens, 70mm is not long enough so you will miss too many things. Also, unless you are constantly doing things like church light wedding photos, f/2.8 is rarely used for walk-around shots. Also, regarding to sharpness, this one is good enough for landscape photos. Now this one is on my 5D III most of the time except when I do wildlife, super wide angle landscape, or some special video recordings.

This is my primary lens. I use it on all my camera's (Rebel -> Dx)
The lens gives me a medium tele-photo and a medium wide angle. I do have other canon professional lens for wider angles and longer tele-photo needs.
The lens is Sharp and very easy to move from wide angle to tele-photo (just by turning the lens barrel). This is very important in maintaining a sharp focus.

I mainly use this lens for general purpose walk about daily pics. Lately been using for son's baseball games (it's t ball so I can get pretty close to the action without needing long lenses). This lens is the sharpest I've used to date on my 7 D. Beautiful photos ALL the time. The only thing I feel would make it better is F 2.8 but I guess you have to pay a bit more for that.
