Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

I got this to hold my new SD 302, and couldn't be happier. My wife used it on my last production shoot and, not being a field sound recordist, commented that she would like to have a waistbelt to take some load off the shoulders after standing for hours. Most larger field recording bags do have waste belts, but we quickly rigged up an old webbing belt through the attached loops which worked fine. It's a small bag, so you won't be carrying much weight anyway, but for a long day you might want to think about rigging your own belt. Otherwise, the case is perfect for my needs, and is a perfect companion for the SD 302.

Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

I piggyback this case with the similar Porta Brace bag to use the AD 302 field mixer with the AD 702 recorder in the field. The front pocket of either bag does not have side access for the cabling, so one bag won't accommodate both devices. Two of these or two of the Porta Brace would work just as well. I recommend using a Versa Flex harness with this setup or you will have serious back fatigue by the end of a long recording day.

Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

I like this case a lot, but it is a bit too expensive for what it is. It also doesn't come with a way to hook it on a belt or around your waist, so it requires more money for that option. The biggest problem is changing the battery in the field, you have to remove the whole recorder from the case, which also requires unplugging all inputs and outputs. But overall it is decent.

Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

It's a well-made, well-designed case. Both compartments have cable-access and seem to fit the gear quite well.
I'm using it for a MixPre and a Tascam Dr-100 recorder. Was made for SD products, but you can make the Tascam fit with a little tinkering.
              Good buy.

Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

I tried carrying my 702 recorder in a fanny pack while recording a live music event, but this met with limited success and was awkward. Doing so with the fanny pack, I also inadvertently jostled one of the mic/line selector switches too.

This CS-3 production case is well-designed and has eliminated those issues. As the previous reviewer stated, access to the headphone adjustment potentiometer can be difficult, but I rarely use headphones during live recordings, and rely instead on the metering displays which are easily viewed with this case. Construction quality is first rate.

Comments about Sound Devices CS-3 Production Case:

I use case to hold SD 702 for mobile field recording of sound FX. Shoulder strap leaves my hands free to hold mic and operate recorder. Very well made with good cable management and extra storage, yet still compact. Fits the 702 perfectly.

My only criticism is that the side velcro makes access to the headphone volume knob difficult because the velcro closes on it's own. You have to rip the velcro open to get to that knob, which is very noisy, meaning you don't want to do it while recording. I'm going to make it so the velcro near the HP knob doesn't close, which shouldn't be difficult, but the manufacturer should have thought of that problem.

Otherwise I'm very happy with the case.
