Comments about Denecke TS-3 Time Code Slate - Color Clapper, EL Backlit Display:
First plus, it is easy to set-up right out of the box. Sync's like a charm. If you are in low light or slate is farther then normal; 3 simple positions to intensify the brightness. So many ways to customize read time hold, to fit your confort zone. If you miss a log marker, you can scroll back. The price was more then I wanted to pay, but the time savings in post, has more then paid for it. Use dry erase markers and it wipes clean in seconds for the next retake. I would highly recommend the Denecke TS-3, because of its multiple frame rate adjustments, easy to jam camera's, and so easy to read. Like I said the time I saved in post with the clear, bright read-out: Priceless. I would recommend the TS-3 to for all productions.

Comments about Denecke TS-3 Time Code Slate - Color Clapper, EL Backlit Display:
I do "by-the-book" video production, which means scripting, time code, all using a 2-camera set-up. The Denecke TS-3 brings all of those elements together and makes life in post production easy--especially if you record sound to an external recorder with TC. I ordered the backlit version (about $300 extra to the price of a standard TS-3) of the TS-3 which I find very useful in a low-light condition. Not only can the TS-3 read TC but it can also generate TC (it has a SB-2 Syncbox TC Generator built in) at various frame and drop rates. All parameters are easy to set by a combinaiton of a DIP switch and a settings dial within the slate. To get to your camera to read or generate TC you will have to make up a cable as the TS-3 requires a mono TS 1.4" plug to whatever your camera's TC In/Out plug requirements are (mine was BNC). If you ever watch movie outtakes or behind-the-scene videos from "Special Feature", notice the slate they use. 90% of the time it will be a Denecke TS-3. The Denecke slate is built like a tank and comes with a well designed carry bag and 2 battery holders. For the price, they could have included an AC adaptor. But, a fresh load of AAs will last you a day's worth of shooting if you remember to keep the sticks closed.

Comments about Denecke TS-3 Time Code Slate - Color Clapper, EL Backlit Display:
For a while B&H was out of this particular model and Im glad I waited. I love the larger size 8.25 x 11 inches, it makes reading and writing easier. And the backlit part is great for dim scenes. It has the standard frame rates but mostly I just use the auto setting and it works great.

I think they really are the industry's market leader! I use this time code slate on a almost daily base.... and i love it. It has dramatically improved my workflow.
As a director, here in the Netherlands, i often work with 2 or 3 (video) camera set up's. Working with this slate made editing so much more easy.
you have this multiple control
1 the audio clap
2 the visual time code
3 the blue back light
it works fast and has proven highly reliable, so far..
