The L830 includes multiple features that make it perfect for the modern home entertainment center, bringing true studio sound as well as multiple placement options.
With features such as an impressive 6" PolyPlas cone woofer for outstanding bass performance and a 1" Pure-Titanium tweeter in a cast-aluminum chassis for pristine high-frequency reproduction, the JBL L830 can handle audio from a variety of music, movies and video games. In addition, the frequency ranges for the L830 perform beyond the capabilities of the human ear to highlight musical nuances you have never heard before. These speakers are ash black.

The first thing I noticed about these was the build quality. Really nice and finished wood exterior. The second thing was the fantastic clarity at all volume levels. I'm powering these with a 90w per channel amp and I hooked them up in a bi amp config. Really nice sound. Lots of bass. Gives my 10" sub very little to do, although it's still needed.
I'm used to listening to high quality pro audio studio monitors and these are a great hifi equivalent. Very even, very clear, very enjoyable.

I'm using these as stereo speakers at the moment and they sound great. The frequency response is amazing. They will require a sub is you are using them like this. Also, I should mention that they are extremely well built! Very nice to look at.

These little speakers will definitely fill a room with sound. Clean, Very Crisp highs, and a lot more bass and power handling than most speakers in its size range. I also run a pair of passive 12" subs and treat the system as a passive 12" "4-way"". Flat signal through a digital optical cable from my Home theater PC is awesome. Highly Recommended.

Replaced JBL's that I had purchased 15+ years ago. I was a bit uneasy when first looking to replace my speakers, as so many companies have been bought and sold with reputations going out the window, these still live up to the JBL reputation and brand of great quality.

I have owned a pair of JBL L830 for several months now, and I am thoroughly satisfied with their appearance, build quality and specially sound. I am very impressed by how well JBL manages to balance a clean sound (required by classical music) with the exciting lively sound that has always been a JBL's trademark. Everything from voice, acoustic instruments, full orchestras to rock bands sounds like it should. The sound level these speakers can produce without distortion is amazing.
I am pairing them with a Pioneer VX-918V receiver (a very nice buy, check out its iPod integration) and a KLH subwoofer (which I am planning to replace with a JBL LP400).
Overall, a hard to beat combination at this price point!

- A good amplifier or receiver with around 100W RMS/channel, Floor stands, A nice subwoofer (if you really like very strong bass!)

I use these speakers strictly for music. I have been involved with music for the last 30 years. These have fantastic imaging and crystal clear sound. You could listen to these speakers for hours and hours without any fatigue. I play a variety of sources and music. Even MP3's sound great with these. When listening to Jazz, it is like you are sitting right there in the club! These JBL's are an incredible bargain - you would have to pay more than double this price to get anything even close.
