The Sunpak PZ40X II flash combines high-performance features with innovative design. It has been updated to be fully compatible with Minolta ADI metering system camera models.

The unique rounded angles and low-profile provide a more functional design and is the perfect match for current digital and photo cameras. While compatible with the latest TTL functions for 35mm digital and film SLR cameras, power-ratio and zoom setting can also be controlled manually in 5 steps.

Fits all Maxxum cameras (a.k.a. Dynax), except the 7000, 8000, and 9000 non-"i" models.

For a more detailed camera/features compatibility chart, please click here.

Fully compatible with Konica Minolta TTL and ADI capable SLR cameras, but also backwards-compatible with TTL metering for "i" type cameras (e.g. digital cameras Maxxum 7D, 5D, DiMAGE A200, DiMAGE Z6; film cameras Maxxum 3 Date, Maxxum 4/5/7/9, Maxxum 50/70 Date & Maxxum Qtsi/Stsi).

Comments about Sunpak PZ40X II AF TTL Flash:

I bought this flash as a result of two things:A had bought a bower flash, which claimed Sony Alpha compatibility, only (after much research) did I find out the the SLT models (A33 and A55 respectively) use different metering and the majaority of 'Sony Alpha flashes' do not work at all, they will not trigger.Second was the price. Having had a chance to use this flash, I am extremely happy with it.The power is decent, no wow factor, but it gets the job done. The size and built are quite good, mountains away from anything else sub-$.Features are great; Manual power and zoom are included on-flash, effective distance is shown on the LCD (yes, it has one, it's backlit). Most of All other reasons to like this flash however, is it's A33/55 compatibility. Note that only P/A/S/M Auto/+ are officially supported, however, most scenes - for the 10-20 people out there who use those anyways - seem to work fine; I don't use scenes so I haven't tested those much. One thing that bothered me was the Hotshoe fit, which wasn't all that tight. It has a lock-ring, so it's easy to ignore, but I would have liked it tighter. One thing that stood out was it's ability (with ADI) to get just the right amount of light, looking as natural as a shoe-flash can.If you own an A33/55 and need a great flash to start out, or a lightweight backup for the bag ask yourself whether you need huge power, or high speed sync. If you don't, save some cash and get this one. at $[$], I sure feel like I've stolen something!

Comments about Sunpak PZ40X II AF TTL Flash:

I used it so far 3/4 times since I bought it. It does not fire when flash head is more than 30 degree up, so bounce flash is not possible. Very disappointed with the quality of this flash.

Comments about Sunpak PZ40X II AF TTL Flash:

This unit seems to provide the same variable flash features for Sony and Minolta digital SLR cameras for less than half the price of Sony/Minolta flash units. It also uses only two AA batteries instead of four. It works fine on my Sony a550 camera and I would recommend it to others with Sony alpha bodies or Minolta 5D/7D SLRs.
