I do a lot of on-location video programming and it seems like few audio installations follow traditional rules. I could seet up my own board and microphones, but it is normally faster to "simply" connect to an existing audio system and use a line feed to my video camera.

New computerized systems could have a variety of connection points and connector types. There have been times that the "only available" connection was to a non-standard XLR. Having a variety of every conceivable type of connector can SAVE time and the need for an extra crew member. One successful shoot can easily pay for all varieities of connectors.

      No good

I bought two and both female RCA connectors fell apart the instant I removed the male RCA's from them. They went to straight to the garbage a total waste of time and money.

Comments about Hosa Technology GXM133 RCA to 3-Pin XLR Adapter:

I don't use these in a real critical application. They're only purpose is as part of the adapter chain going from 1/8" TRS to XLR for injecting a pink noise signal from a field recorder into my rack so I can get rough settings for the room EQ.

I use a lot of high-end cable and connectors for my critical applications, which is most, but for little stuff like this I've used Hosa quite a lot too, and with success.

You've got to ask yourself, is there a compelling reason to spend more on this adapter? If there's not then I think you'll be pleased with this little guy's performance.

THIS device worked great, looked great, and I had no problems with it at all. I'd use it again and recommend it. I used two of them to produce a stereo audio (into an older SD Harmonics Encoder).

I was going from line level out on an amp to line level in on the device. You may have different experience if going from line level to mic level!

I used two of these adapters on a simple show: stereo 1/8" to RCA out of my laptop then into these adapters to convert to XLR for a pair of powered speakers. I didn't encounter any problems or sound quality issues, just plug and play.
