    Hello Everyone,

I am going to start with the weakness of the bag and then go over my uses and pluses. That way you will know the weakness right away before getting bored with my information:

Weakness, the bottom bag when loaded and top portion when loaded with camera can be awkward to close/open due to the weight on both ends. The access to the bottom is to unsnap the connector and then open the zipper.

I have purchased the Tamrac 3385 since then and you will find my comparisons in this review and you can find my review of the Tamrac 3385 on the B&H appropriate page (black version).

I bought the 5546 several years ago and I have taken it everywhere (eg Chicago, Disneyland, Texas, backwoods, etc). It has served me well. I have utilized it by loading it up with two cameras and my sunglasses and flight information, etc.

You can find me using it with my Nikon D80 (Digital), Nikon N80 (Film), Mamiya 6 (with two lenses), Baldax (Folder camera), Rolleiflex, Fuji 645, Mamiya 645 with several lenses, several folders, etc.

This is a very good bag and it is great that it has a pouch in front for such things such as lens cleaners, film, scotch tape (I use it to tape the end of the medium format film), pens, lens filters, etc. The Tamrac 3385 pouch is inside the flap and not as usefull. The Tamrac 3385 was designed with the digital camera in mind. I have had to pack the lens filters in the areas where I could have packed lenses instead (for the Tamrac 3385).

I have found the ability to use the space efficiently and it is a small enough bag to take everywhere. The 3385 is a bit bigger and I have not taken it on an airplane yet (but I plan to in July to Colorado Springs) and then on a trip to Vegas in July as well.

I like having water bottles on the sides for drinks and I have been able to take most of my shots (the bag has slowed down only a few shots and I missed a coyote going to attack some wild turkeys due to the need to access the camera in the lower bag. I may have been able to get that shot with the 3385 due to the design have side zipper to get to one camera by design (I can get to two cameras by the way I have loaded and the type of cameras I have put on the side zipper).

I believe that most people do not think I have cameras in the bag (because it looks like a normal backpack) and therefore they have not tried to steal it. But, I am extra vigilant with the bag and would not let it out of my body's tcuch.

The bottom pouch is very difficult to get to for a thief and therefore they would have to steal the bag before getting to anything valuable from there. They will not be able to open a zipper and get to something valuable down below. They could open the top portion without you knowing (experts) and steal something, but that is very unlikely due to the way I hold it (with one strap versus two) and its movements would be hard for them to get at it.

I am keeping the 5546 and the Tamrac 3385. I have found them both usefull as I have found medium, 35mm, digital cameras and camcorders usefull. Everything has its own positives and negatives.

Nice compact pack for a short hike but it is difficult to pack more than one extra lens plus a camera with mounted lens in the photo compartment. Might want to go for the next size up. Seems like illustrations for the pack show it to have more room than it actually has in the photo compartment.

I'll admit it, this bag is a little smaller than I thought it would be, but I've been carrying it with me every day for the last couple weeks, and I really like it. I have a T3i, and with a 50mm lens on it, I can fit that and two other Nikon AIS lenses too. It's just enough for those people like me who die a little inside when you leave the house with only one lens. The top part is big enough for wallet, phone, ipod, 3x5 notebooks, keys, and a sandwich depending on whether you love hoagies.

          Comments about 5546 Adventure 6 Backpack (Red/Black):

I bought the Tamrac 5546 Adventure 6 Backpack because I wanted a light weight camera bag with enough room for the equipment I need with me. It has proven to be perfect for my needs. I have plenty of room for a camera with a lens attached, several extra lenses, a flash and I was able to include a second camera body too. There is enough room in the pockets to hold a variety of filters, cable release and extra batteries and memory cards. The product is light and easy to carry and comfortable. This is an exceptional value and I will highly recommend it o anyone looking for an inexpensive and at the same time a sturdy well built product.

The Tamrac is a snug fit for my camera. My lens is a little too bit but the material gives so it can still fit. There are a lot of straps, most of which I have no need for but they fold away neatly. Overall a great weather resistant bag with plenty of room for my camera

                Comments about 5546 Adventure 6 Backpack (Red/Black):

The Adventure 6 backpack is a great addition to your "grab it" and go DSLR setup. I give it four stars only because I would have preferred a bit more padding in the upper section. The fit and finish is excellent, and the chest strap makes the smaller size of the pack work well.

It is a grab and go setup - the pack is small, so you are not going to be able to properly protect more than a couple of shorter lenses and your camera, but that's the point - adventure.

If you are hiking, biking, dirt cycling, climbing, skiing, whatever, this pack will work fine. To complement the chest strap that keeps the shoulder straps in place during activities, there is a waist strap, also, though it is not a padded strap - no matter, it is just there to keep the pack on your back, and not bouncing around.

Lots of places to add carabiners, or other clip ons to attach stuff on the outside, two side pockets for water or other items. For a minimalist photo adventure this is a great buy. If you want to bring along that 200-400 zoom and a DSLR with a vertical battery pack, you may need something larger.

I was concerned that I might not be able to get my T4i with the attached Sigma 28-250 to fit; when I would need a backpack, I always try to avoid taking a bunch of stuff. It just barely fit, along with another long zoom. Not room enough in the bottom for the Speedlight but it fits easily in the top. A little unwieldy to access the bottom; takes two hands and a nice level place to put the pack. Very well-made, expect it to last a long time.

The bag is not one of the huge bags that you load up and carry for 50 feet and you are tired out. It will hold your camera with a lens on it and 2 other lenses. I put my Q in also with some room left over for a sweater or rain gear. This is the 3rd bag I purchased and it will definetely be the final one. I love it.

                    Comments about 5546 Adventure 6 Backpack (Red/Black):

I wanted a backpack to house my Canon T5i with extra lens and Zoom H4n and this backpack works WONDERFULLY at not just storing the gear I have but protecting it with built-in and customizable foam barriers in the lower compartment. Mine came with 4 inserts for the bottom compartment which I only needed 2 but it's nice knowing if I ever wanted to store other things in this, I can always use all 4 and customize as much as I want. The ad suggests that you can use the top compartment for lunch or a rain poncho but I found it easier to use this top compartment for accessories and smaller cameras such as a GoPro or two, since most of what I shoot is outdoors having an extra compartment on top for those cameras was a must. On the bottom of the backpack there is an extra strap (which I guess is to go around your waist) but I use it to attach my tripod horizontally on the bottom as to make hiking easier so if you don't mind having only one strap around your waist and not two, this is a great solution. So I didn't purchase the extra tripod strap assembly which I think is made for larger and heavier tripods of 10 lbs or greater so it depends on how large of a tripod you want to carry. I have the Magnus VT-3000 if it helps you any to compare the size of yours. I LOVE the fact that this looks very common on the outside so when you're hiking or camping no one could tell that this is actually a camera bag until you pull out a camera right in front of them, but no camera bag could disguise the user showing off their gear to everyone. In the lower pouch, it suggests that you use it for SD cards to mark which ones are used and unused but I found it easier to use this pouch for batteries allowing my crew and I to easily find which batteries are full and which are used up. Then I store my sd cards in their own waterproof case in the top with my gopros and quick release plates. I had read some reviews before purchasing this and read many other consumers complain their camera didn't fit into the camera pouch but I hope if you either have a canon T5i or another camera, you can research the size differences between your specific camera and mine to see if yours will fit. Mine fits very nice with the kit lens attached, then I have a 55-250mm lens as well as a zoom h4n all in the lower compartment aside the camera. What I suggest is look at the dimensions of your camera and all of the gear you want to fit into the bag and almost map it out using the dimensions in the advertisement for this backpack before purchasing to know if this is the right size for you or if you need a bigger one BUT if you need more space, I suggest getting two (if you use the buddy system while hiking or shooting) and having some gear in each so as to not kill yourself with all the weight of your inventory on your back constantly. Also if you get a larger backpack, it becomes more apparent you have a lot of gear so security becomes an issue. As for this backpack, it looks on the outside like many of the backpacks sold at camping stores so you wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb no matter where you go. That said, I feel very safe with the amount of protection this bag provides. Makes a great and convenient bag for all my gear when lugging around cases all day isn't an option. This is great for other things too, after all you don't want to show up to a family outing and slow everyone else down or bring in cases upon cases to a family dinner. Going to sporting events is made easier since you wouldn't be able to bring in cases of gear to a sporting event whereas a backpack is a lot more common and most wouldn't bother you asking questions of your intentions. Could not recommend this product enough, especially considering the low price. I half expected to see some cheap materials being used in manufacturing to save on cost but I was happily wrong. I have used it a lot already and it doesn't strain my back using it so I can't wait for many years to come with this.

A great bag for your cam!
Ok, this is not a proffesional one as your equipment chouldn't be very big. Cam body size is limit, and you can easily transport 2 objectives. It's perfect for me! But not for you if you have a big camera.
In the upper part you have space for your private things, like cell phone, wallet, etc.

5 Stars for being a great bag w/ good craftmanship. I ordered this bag because I was told the Canon 60d w/ 18'135mm lense would fit and still have room for more.... wrong. I wanted a bag I can drop the 60d in w/ lense mounted comfortably. Lense facing down would make the body stick up and putting it sideways leaves barely any room. I can see this back working w/ smaller DSLR and lenses. I really liked the bag and I have no gripes w/ it but it just wanted for me. Best to shop around for a bag having your camera handy to gaurantee fit. I can see this great for something like a T3i w/ 18-55mm.

Great for hiking. I travel light so the small size delivers for me. My K10D with 16-50mm is my landscape photo choice. Fit well. All compartments convenient to use. Plenty of room for battery, filters, sd cards, etc.

I took this backpack with an SLR and two lenses through half of Africa over a 7 month period. It stood up to some of the worst conditions imaginable from the Saharan desert to central African jungles to Ethiopian mountains. It keeps dust out extremely well and doesn't "advertise" you are carrying photo gear as most people assumed it was a regular backpack. If it could survive that trip it can pretty much survive anything.
