Overall I like the design and ease of use. The camera compartment has a decent amount of space for a body and 3-4 lenses. The height of the camera compartment is somewhat limiting however. You won't fit an 80-200 f2.8 zoom in there without seriously distorting the shape of the bag. Of course Tamrac didn't design it for that kind of user. If that's what you need to fit in here, then buy the next size up.

The upper compartment is roomy enough for a light jacket or a couple of books, snacks, random stuff you may want while traveling.

My only real gripe is that I've had this bag for less than two months and already the weight of my D70 with 60mm micro attached has completely flattened part of the foam insert that it rests on. It's a minor concern really since the only purpose of that flap is to keep your body from rubbing against a tall lens or flash. But I would have thought the foam would take a little longer than 6 weeks to lose its integrity.

Even with that flaw, this bag still felt much more robust than the OrionTrekker II.

I use the product for my D80 w/grip with the following two lens 16-85 VR and the 70-300 VR.

I like the size of the bag overall and and there is plenty of room for me to carry the items I need to carry on days when I am out traveling. I had to buy this size bag as it states that it will accommodate a camera with grip attached. The dividers are not up to standard they do not support the camera well enough and will begin to crush even after using them the first time. That should not be the case considering what the bag costs.

I have already modified the bag to to work better without the divider supports. The shoulder straps and the waist belt fit well and adjusting them to fit is not a problem. I gave it 3 stars because of the dividers otherwise the bag is really quit nice and very dependable.

I usually bring my camera along with me when I do other things. This backpack 1) doesn't look like a camera bag, 2) has plenty of good storage for my camera gear (including zoom lens, filters, charger, flash, etc), and 3) has room for other things, like water bottles, books, extra layer of clothes, and more. So far I have really liked it!

I shoot with the Nikon D7000, and this bag is great! I was able to fit the camera, a couple lenses, and the flash in the lower part, and then anything else I needed in the main pouch. They also thought of things like cell phone storage which I really appreciate.

Time will tell how well this bag holds up, but so far so good. It's really handy if you're an on-the-go photographer. Both commuting and hiking are made easier with this one. Enjoy!

Comments about 5547 Adventure 7 Backpack (Black):

I bought this bag to primarily transport my camera gear while out hiking. It is a well made bag, and most importantly-was comfortable to wear. Previously I had a similar bag from another manufacturer. This bag measures up pretty well based on the price, however I wish it was slightly larger(this is the largest of this particular model), and had a little thicker padding, and lastly, I always liked the pull-out rain covers as provided on some bags. Overall, I think it is a good bag for the price. If I really wanted something a little bigger, more padded, etc, I should have expected to pay a little more: can't fault the product for my decision. A good bag at a very reasonable cost.

Comments about 5547 Adventure 7 Backpack (Black):

I frequently take short trips and go places for the weekend and this pack works great for that purpose. I can carry all of my gear in one bag and if needed, I can strap my tripod to the bottom of it. Prior to this bag I would carry two camera bags or stuff both bags into a daypack just to keep everything together. If you are going to the family reunion for the afternoon you might want to take your camera in a smaller bag.

I have only had it for a few weeks and maybe the longest hike I took with it was about a mile fully loaded (tripod included) and found it very comfortable to wear. I do like the top compartment to carry additional items. To access your camera it does require taking the bag off your back.

The only thing I found frustrating was how difficult it was to use the dividers. With all that velcro it is hard to get them in place because they want to stick where you don't want them to.

Is it the perfect bag? Most likely not, but it does meet my needs.

I great backpack for the money. It's a well thought out design and functions perfectly for a body and a few lenses as well as a few other accessories. I use it with a Nikon D-90, 18-105mm lens, 70-300mm lens, 35mm lens, SB-800 flash, a set of tele-extenders and a few small accessories. That's about all that will fit without over stuffing it and risking damage to it's contents. If you have more gear to carry go to the next larger size. Super for my needs though. It's very comfortable too. I love it!

My husband and I use this on trips to the zoo. We have our Canon Rebel Xsi with 18-55mm lens attached, an additional 55-250mm lens, a 50mm lens, and assorted cables in the bottom storage area. Our camera has an eyepiece extender, and with the extender attached the camera won't fit with the lens pointing down as the illustrations show, so we had to make some adjustments so it would lay flat (which probably protects the lens better anyway). In the top storage area, we've got a 420EX flash w/diffuser, our camera manual, a pack of tissues, a small notebook w/pen, and some cleaning supplies in a Ziploc bag. There's room for a few snacks, too. The outer, lower pocket has room for extra batteries/SD cards and a polarizer.

The bag is easy enough to carry, but it's a pain to have to put it down on the ground to change lenses, so it might not be the bag you want if you do that a lot. It's also not going to be big enough to take everything with you on a photo shoot (assuming you have more than what I've listed above). Overall, it's worked out pretty well for us - it's a lot more comfortable than the single shoulder strap bag we carried around before - but I may end up buying something like a sling bag at some point to to make it easier to swap out lenses.

Great for traveling. Specially when you are going sightseeing and you need to bring your camera and some other nicknacks, this is the bag. Great size, just enough room at the top to carry personal items and keep all your camera stuff separate at the bottom. Perfect size too!

Pros - Tapered top great for maneuvering around airports, baggage compartments under seat storage, tight walking spaces outdoors
17 inch sleeve is perfect fit for laptop. Solid craftsmanship and comfort.
Cons - The zippers are a nuisance. They work but usually two hands are required all the time. We photo people don't have enough hands as it is.

Purchased both Adventure 6 and 7, and found the A-6 best for me because of its smaller size. I can fit my Canon Rebel XTi and zoom lens in bottom compartment of the A-6 (tight), mcards, spare battery and charger in front outside zip pocket, and still have room on top for personal, daytrip stuff. Side mesh pockets hold cell, keys, misc., even a bottle of water. The A-7 is substantially larger than the A-6. The A-7 is about the size of a regular bookbag. The A-6 is more like a mini-backpack, more portable and discreet. It's more grab-and-go for me, stuffs better in small places. Functional, well-designed product, durable. If your camera gear is larger than what I describe, go with the A-7 unless you want to use both compartments (upper and lower) for your camera gear only.

I spent a good deal of time shopping online and in local stores, I couldn't find the ideal camera bag. After reading several online reviews, I was eager to purchase the Tamrac 5547 as it offered everything I was looking for. Lots of PADDED room below for Nikon D60 and lenses, loads of room above for bino's, keys, cellphone, and food. The backpack is extremely comfortable. This was the perfect buy!

I've used this backpack on a trip already and will use it in the future for work. It is well-made and comfortable. It's a nice size and fits a DSLR with lens on it, and room for 3 to 4 lenses. Not much to complain about, I guess that it takes time to get the camera out because you have to unzip and unlock, but that's fairly obvious by looking at it.
