this is the 2d lamp I have purchased from B&H. It came as and when expected-in fact ahead of time. The lamp works great, but didn't fix the problem I was having with the projector. It needed a new lamp as well.

Searched many sites for this lamp..this was the cheapest[...]This is fairly simple to install, but you must have a long, thin Phillips screwdriver.Installation instructions are available online, as well as with the unit.Installation time 30 minutes (and I am not skilled at this sort of work).

Buying this projector lamp was [...] frugal. [...].My issues were with the installation instuction in the Sony Manual (p. 65) which wrongly states that the lamp hours need to be reset by pushing the remote buttons for not more than 5 seconds each when in fact it means to say that all 4 buttons should be pressed (in order) very quickly. Sony's customer support knows nothing about this and only after hours on the internet did I stumble across a post about a different projector that lead me to try a speedy entry of the reset code. I will definately use B&H again and I recommend them.

[...] The replacement lampcomes with the housing not just the bulb. Do not let anyone sell you the bulb. You have to take the housing apart to replace it. Most techs will not do this as I found out. When I received the replacement lamp w/housing from B&H it only took 25 minutes to install. Works great. Just buy it here and save a lot of time and trouble.

- I looked around and didn't find a better price than BHP- I did find a thread on the internet that people that said there was a way to only replace the bulb....and save $$$...but I'm no handyman, so i skipped it- you can do this installation while it's mounted to the ceiling, no problem- make sure you have 6" Phillips head....or it won't reach far enough!!!- when you try to screw it BACK in....make sure it's PUSHED TIGHTLY in first....little frustrating at first because of the deep reach of the screws....awkward and hard to see what you're doing- when you finish you must reset the unit....THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE IN STANDBY MODE....this is not mentioned in the instructions- other than that, pretty straight forward....30-45 min tops- lastly, I bought this new replacement unit after a MESSAGE came on the screen saying "Time to replace the bulb blah, blah"....shortly thereafter, the bulb would AUTOMATICALLY turn off after a minute....I THOUGHT THIS WAS BECAUSE THE BULB WAS OLD AND WAS FLIPPING OFF.....NOOOOO.....you can probably RESET the unit (in standby mode only) and get MORE hrs outta the bulb.....YES, IT'S TRUE! the bulb MAY NOT be bad. Surprise!good luck!...and thxs to BHPhoto as always! 1st class operation. [...]
