Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
What a fun lens to walk about with! And, it's sharp and contrasty with great color rendition. Yes, it's a superwide zoom, so there's lots of barrel distortion. But it's a great landscape/cityscape lens, awesome for events, and neat for environmental portraits.
There are some things to watch for: polarizing filters and variable neutral density filters will be a little unpredictable. Just watch what you're doing! Also, you'll need "thin" or "slim" filters - or those design specifically for use with very wide lenses, or you'll see vignetting, especially at the widest end of the range.

Good, sharp pictures. A little vignetting at widest angle shots. Light enough to go everywhere. I am happy with performance.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
I chose this over the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 because I really don't need the extra stops (I always shoot with a tripod in night photography!) plus the Tokina is expensive. I didn't get the newer version of this lens because the $100 more with vc didn't justify it for me plus I read that image quality is practically the same on both. I used to have the Sony 11-18mm and glad I was able to sell it. It was too soft, too slow for the over $700 price tag. This Sigma performs much better image quality wise. It's not the sharpest of lens but I'm happy to have a decent super wide lens in situations when I might need it.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
For the price, this lens does a great job. It's reasonably sharp, has little to no distortion, and is built great. I just wish the sharpness was even but I can tell the edges are a little less sharp at all apertures when shooting at its widest. It's really only noticeable at 100% view so it's all good.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
I had been wanting the Sigma 10-20 for a couple of years, and was thrilled when I finally got it.
It performs as expected, and works very well for landscapes, which is what I mainly shoot. Of course, it isn't as sharp around the edges, but I knew that would be the case ahead of time. But the lens is sturdy, well constructed, and my images come out crisp where it counts (and at the optimal aperture).
If you're looking for a high quality wide angle, but can't afford the next model up, this is a perfectly good option.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
On the Sony, you don't get the HSM focus drive and so the manual focus is more cumbersome. I find autofocus on ultrawides to be very iffy, since central depth of field is large and DOF at the corners is miniscule (check it out). To avoid smeared images at the corners, I use the magnified focus available in the A77 EVF which works a treat. I believe the 24MP of the A77 is challenging the lens resolution, but while the sharpness isn't what I'm used to in the better Sigma lenses, it's very good. I'm sticking to f/8 to f/11 wherever I can with this lens and am comfortable with getting exhibition quality 16 X 24 prints with careful focusing. I thought a bit about getting the 8-16mm, but decided 15mm effective focal length was short enough and this lens is less weight in the bag.

Awesome lens. I have nothing but good things to say about this sigma lens! At first I was a little bit worried because a few of the photos I had taken were a bit blurry, but once I sent it to a smaller aperture the photos are awesome. B&H was great I had the lens in a couple of days.

I give it 4 stars. But want to give 3. My copy has a huge back-focus. But I decided not to take this into consideration when reviewing. The lens has good sharpness, nice bokeh, good color and minimal distortion.
The lens is cheaper than Sony wide-angle zoom.
Cons: large diameter of filters, but starting from 12 mm it is possible to use the Cokin P system.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6D EX DC HSM Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras:
The lens was purchased for my father, who uses one of the early Sony DSLRs, 10.2 mp (so this is third party). He is an avid amateur photographer. The lens is fantastic, well worth the cost. The clarity in the entire field is phenonenal. It is heavy but not inconveniently heavy. He also noted it took a great picture inside with low level light. I recommend it heavily (he does).

I use this lens mostly outdoors and find it is great for landscapes and also being creative with shots you normally would not get with a 50mm lens. At 10mm you can really fit almost everything into the picture.

I have had the lens about 6 weeks, using it with my Sony A700 mainly for landscape and for interior architectural photos. Images are sharp and AF is reasonably fast. The build quality is solid and though the lens is a bit heavy, I find that to be no problem. This is my second lens by Sigma for the A700 and I do like the value and performance of these lens'. The EX finish is "classy". I would like to have had the fixed-f wide angle by sigma, but for the price difference I am very happy with this lens.

Great lens, I should of noticed that it is an f4-5.6 kinda hard to use in low light. Perfect lens for getting a different perspective on buildings!

This is my third Sigma lens, i am very happy with it, the perspective you have with this is simply amazing. Sometimes i need to take indoor pictures of tight spaces, so this works great for me. The wideangle implies some distortion at the edges, so you need to get use to when you're shooting.
I like the size, very comfortable and i consider it now one of "always-in-my-bag" lenses.
I'm building my car rig now, so this lens will be my primary lens on the camera when using the rig.

Used mostly for wide-angle scenic and landscape shots, occaisionaly for macro.
Sharp lens, good focusing speed, CA under control.
The one gripe I have is about the size of the filters...77mm. Oh, well, the results are worth it.

Purchased this lens prior to trip out west to Rocky Mt Natl Park to use on a Minolta 5D camera. It worked very well, was durable and provided some very good landscape photos. The wide angle opens up a whole new world of photography both outdoors and indoors. Very pleased with this lens.
