The Lectrosonics 400 Series wireless microphone systems combine digital hybrid technology, diversity reception and rugged components to achieve pristine audio signal at long range.

The Lectrosonics UCR401 is a compact, portable camera mountable receiver designed for professional audio applications in the field or in-doors. The receiver is completely compatible with all 400 series wireless transmitters and provides 256 selectable UHF frequencies across a 25.6 MHz tuning range.

Smart Diversity reception reduces RF interference and drop out and a built-in RF spectrum analyzer searches across the entire 25.6 MHz tuning range, locating the strongest possible frequencies in the area. The clear frequencies are marked and displayed on the back-lit LCD. Balanced XLR output provides maximum output gain with minimal noise and the receiver is powered with internal 9V batteries or external DC power supply.

Note! For system compatibility, the component's frequency MUST match your existing system/component frequency.

Digital Hybrid Technology
24-bit digital audio stream is decoded at the receiver resulting in greater operating range without noise and artifacts caused by analog compandor circuits.
Compact Design
The UCR401 features a compact, lightweight design for enhanced comfort while mounted onto cameras.
LCD & Spectrum Scanner
The comprehensive LCD provides all necessary parameter information as well as a frequency spectrum analyzer for locating ideal operating frequencies.
Extended Battery Life
The UCR401 is powered with two AA alkaline or lithium batteries. The receiver will operate up to 11 hours on lithium, 4hours (continuous) with alkaline batteries.
256 Selectable Frequencies
Both transmitter and receiver offer 256 selectable UHF frequencies over a 25.6 MHz range.
SmartDiversity Diversity Reception
The UCR411 uses Lectrosonic's Smart Diversity design analyzes incoming audio signal in order to determine the optimum timing for phase switching. The result is minimal noise and drop-out due to RF interference.
SmartNR
Lectrosonics SmartNR (Noise Reduction) automatically allocates noise reduction by attenuating audio signal that match a calculated, statistical profile. The result enhances clarity and intelligibility while eliminating noise.

Comments about Lectrosonics UCR401A - Compact Camera Mountable Receiver (Frequency Block 23):

This thing is a wonder of engineering. It amazes me that they can fit this much tech into such a small (and durable) case. I think it's worth the price, and that's saying a lot!

Comments about Lectrosonics UCR401A - Compact Camera Mountable Receiver (Frequency Block 23):

Bought the 401 along with the UM400a transmitter after months of agonizing over the cost difference between Lectros vs Sennheisers, 211s vs 411s, and 401s vs 201s. Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with Lectrosonics, and Larry Fischer answers many of the support questions himself if you call or write Lectrosonics directly. Support from the company is everything, and they are wonderful.

Here's the scoop - this is a fine receiver, and battery life with the AAs is just fine if you use Li-Ions or other batteries recommended from the Lectrosonics website. Of course, if you plan to use one or two in a bag you'll quickly opt for NP1 power distribution.

I get a bit of static ONLY if I have a transmitter running right beside the receiver, but this disappears when the transmitter is moved more than a foot away. After that, I don't notice a difference between the performance of the 401 & 411. Lectrosonics gives a great explanation for this on their website and they do not recommend this receiver for bag use and market it for on-camera use. I'm here to tell you that you can use these receivers just fine as long as you aren't running transmitters in the bag for camera hopping. If you need to camera hop or work with a separate antenna system, get the 411s. If you don't need those functions the 401 is a wonderful system that works almost identically to the 411 (the 401 & 411 manuals are combined into one set of instructions)

It's not apparent when comparing photos, but the 401 is more compact than the 411, which I found helpful for my small bag setup or mounting to the Sony EX1R. Having the ability to send a 1KHz tone from the receiver and vary the output between Mic & Line levelin 1db increments is a phenomenal and often-overlooked feature when setting proper gain staging. I've use this to calibrate the wireless system to board mixers, field mixers, recorders, and really miss it when I have to go back to a Sennheiser system. You really do get your money's worth from these systems.

Built like a tank like all Lectro gear, and the 400-series Digital Hybrid technology is pretty amazing. You cannot go wrong with this unit, especially if the 411 is out of your price range. For the best results, pair this receiver with a 400-series transmitter.
