This little number does what it is supposed to do. It allows you to securely carry your HD-P2 in the field. However, I only wish that it provided more protection in the way of padding. If you are traveling, I would strongly suggest that you pack it in bubble wrap or something.
It is a great harness, but a poor "shield."

I spent too many years making-do with whatever I could find to do the job. Most of the time it almost worked, but not really. The Tascam CS-P2 Carrying Case is exactly what it intended to be...protection for a quality piece of equipment. I read reviews claiming it is not padded enough for great protection. Nonsense. I never intend to sling my precioius equipment into the back of a pickup to move on to the next job. I highly recommend this case and anyone who purchases it will be fully satisfied.

For location shoots, very affordable, panels in all the right places to accommodate the unit's somewhat eccentric controls layout. Definitely not in the portabrace, et al, category of case re build quality, but that would be overkill for the recorder in question.

I was a bit surprised by the usefulness of this case. While the quality isn't the best and the strap isn't comfortable for long term use the overall functionality is good for the price. I use it for basic protection when the recorder is around the house. If you can't afford the Porta Brace this is definitely better than nothing.

Nice little case. You can access all the inputs and outputs under the flaps. It won't protect the recorder from a fall, but it will keep it from getting scratched, dinged, switches from getting bumped, and rained on (for the most part). It's not a storage case, it's more of a protective cover.
BTW it doesn't come with a strap because the strap should have come with your HD-P2.

The case is very well designed, Nice useable features.
For the HD-P2 This is the case.
I tried the Portabrace case for the P2, And sent it back (P2 would not fit and was not as functional and costs more, However it does come with a strap, The Tascam case does not)
I am using a Sony Camera strap,( The kind with metal locking clips)
