Comments about Bencher Copymate II Tabletop Copystand:

After reviewing all the copy stands available I chose this one mainly for the price point. I was surprised when it arrived to find out that the column was of anodized extruded aluminum construction with a ruler guide for elevation. Also included were a set of magnetic strips for holding work against the baseboard. The pictures on the web were of little help at all sites I visited, even the manufacture's site. My main concern was that my camera could be extended away from the column, which it easily can up to 5 inches. It assembled easily and I was able to begin using it almost immediately. I have been using it to copy negatives and old photos with my digital slr. Good value for the money.

Comments about Bencher Copymate II Tabletop Copystand:

I just received this product for use in a book digitization project I'm starting and I must say, this is a really sturdy and well constructed item.

The assembly was easy and the mounting screws worked perfectly with the camera mounting assembly. THe table top is level and there were even strips of magnets to use as hold downs for the pages of the books I will be photographing.

Comments about Bencher Copymate II Tabletop Copystand:

Received the Copymate II about a week ago. It was easy to setup; just four bolts. It is sturdy and solid. The camera in my case is attached with the 1/4-20 screw; the attachment is rigid with no camera movement at all. I use it for macro photography of coins. The vertical adjustment is smooth and easy to fine tune. The horizontal adjustment is less smooth but that does not affect my work. Overall a five star product.

Comments about Bencher Copymate II Tabletop Copystand:

I'm using the stand to take macro shots and it has been working out very nicely. The vertical movements are very smooth for all but the most precise needs and the camera always feels very stable even when taking shots un-tethered from the computer and pressing lightly on the camera. I feel safe leaving the camera mounted on the stand without any worries because of the stability of the stand.

Movement in the horizonal plane is not nearly as smooth as the vertical movement, however. Additional macro rails are needed for smooth and precise movement in this plane. I am fine with just moving the subject instead of adjusting the camera but I can see where this could become a problem for some users, but if that is the case, then macro rails are probably going to be needed anyway. For the price of this stand it is a very good buy and I would not expect smoother movement than it has so it still gets a full 5/5 stars.
