For the current sale price of $, you can't beat the Ultimate Support MC 125. With the telescoping boom, it gets high enough for drum overheads and could work for anything else you needed to record. Ive owned much cheaper stands, and stands by Atlas which are twice as much. Now this is the only stand I use in my studio, for its durability, ease of use, and price!

An expensive item. But a great studio boom, until the chintzy plastic pivot clutch wears out. It should be MUCH MORE heavy duty, made of metal, and have a good long hand-grip lever for tightening, rather than the tiny thumbscrew. This is made worse by the design flaw that the failure-prone pivot screw is both the tensioner for the angle, but also the grip that keeps the boom in place. So once that thing is worn out, you can only use it horizontally and balanced perfectly. I should have bought the Atlas SB-36 in the first place.

This thing is heavy! And moves effortlessly on the ground but stays locked in place when needed as well. Love this mic stand.

        MC-125 studio-grade boom stand

        By Woody Blanchard

        from Dunsmuir, Calif.

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

A VERY well made stand, tight clutch(s) and tilt mechanism, well throughout and executed with a good black power-coated finish. First gig was outdoors and the sudden 28-30+ mph wind didn't even phase these monsters! Of course, that was without the casters, but they're not that difficult to move so why bother with casters?! Nonetheless, a great stand and a very good investment for the studio or (like myself) out on the gig!

Comments about Ultimate Support MC-125 Professional Studio Boom Stand:

I'm a partner in professional video co. in Reno. Since I have years of experience making music recordings, audio fell on me. Need a real pro wheeled stand!

First, the threads in the cheap cast iron base, just wore out, from simply re-tightening the stand, by hand only. Then finally lifting it off the tailgate of my pickup, by the stand, the base fell 3 feet to the concrete driveway and literally shattered one side of the base!!!

This base is garbage and I agree that the rest of the plastic is rapidly disintegrating. Boy, I'll bet management is spending their bonuses from getting an ultra cheap manufacturer in Asia! Congrads! NEVER buy from them again!!
