This was a replacement of the same; our twin 6 yr old boys broke the light switch (not serious) after 1 yr and the infrared transmitter (oh oh! needed for TV) after 3 years of fighting over, throwing, dropping, sitting on the remote.
For those who hide equipment in a closet and need an RF remote extender but don't want to spend $hundreds, this model is a value leader. Far less expensive than other RF remotes (e.g. from Universal, Harmony) but has almost all the function you can think of. Works well with most of my equipment, some aged, most with just published codes.
Battery lasts a long time. Display not clear enough, and button's not big enough, for Grandmas. Doesn't pick up all the functions and shows incorrect functions for some pre-programmed component, but can be manually, though tediously, edited.
Tip: You can't definitively switch the input on TV's which don't have one button per input (Like at least some Panasonic Viera's, which uses a round robin input button) using a macro, since this or probably any other universal remote - doesn't know on which component the TV is currently set and how many times to press the input button to get to a specific input. Switching inputs through a component that does have a separate button per component (e.g. some HTIB or most HDMI-switching receivers) is one way to use macros to power on the TV, switch to the component (like a DVD), turn on the DVD, turn on the receiver, switch the receiver sound to DVD).

I bought two of these to replace other universal remotes made by the same manufacturer. If I was rating the product by itself, I'd give it 5 stars! Easy to program and easy to use. The codes for my cable boxes, receivers, and TV's were built right in and the unit quickly learned the required commands my other components. But Universal's customer support sucks! I emailed them to ask if this unit was compatible with the RF receiver of theirs that I've had for a number of years. Still waiting for a response - I doubt I'll ever get one. Great product for the money! Too bad Universal doesn't support it properly!

For 3 years i have used the old model made by the same compnay and I have the IR treansiver that controlls 5 devices.Back in the day remote like this use to cost $300.00.It was surprising to me how easy was to set up all evices I have the databse in the remote contains old and new models- Surprising. The remote is much smaller and futs in one hand so you do not need two hands to operate the unit. There are allot more features that I am yet to look trough.Recomend it to any one that is looking for IR remore.

I bought a Universal brand remote R50 to replace a Universal Automator remote. I returned it because the keys wrere to close together in the center and it would bump out of the Guide etc.
I bought 2 new RF-20 remotes which are exactly the same layout as my old Automator.
It works very well. There were a few things I didn't like but overall good.
I prefer to put everything in with the learning method so I can arrange the LCD screen the way I want. Can clone, R50 you can't.

I bought this to replace a four year old RF 20. I already had the power blaster and the new remote is compatible. The original remote needed replacement as the signal produced was weaker and the "0" did not work anymore. Another post made a similar comment. Programming was easy as you can clone the old programs to the new remote. For the price this is hard to beat however if it lasts only four years again I may have to consider alternatives.

I got mine about 4 years ago and had the same problems as another reviewer (fading signal and inoperative buttons) however based on the alternatives this remote does what is advertised and is far less expensive.

This is my second remote - i purchased the first one about 4 years ago (so got about 4yrs of use from it) - the signal started fading and some of the buttons stopped working so they recommended i purchase a new one - I love the RF functionality and at [$] dollars you cant beat the price (worth the money)Easy to program and pretty customizable without being overly complicated.Does the same as the $250+ remotes which need an electrical engineering degree to operate...

I've had it for a little over a week now. I can't believe people complain about setup. It took me less than 10 minutes to program the controller with my TV, Cable box, and Denon Receiver. Most of that time was spent watching the DVD. I even had time to setup the macros function, which allows you to turn on/off all three components with the press of one button. You can't beat the price for the level of functionality. Great controller.

I have an Onkyo surround sound system, Direct TV service, and a Panasonic LCD TV.
I've tried the cheap stuff and gave up on universal remotes. Then I saw this, the reasonable price, and great reviews and thought I'd give it a try.
Directions are great! Functionality is amazing. I push one button and all my equipment turns on or off. Favorites function makes looking for shows very easy. Speaking of easy, programming is very straight forward. (Be sure and follow the directions though.) It's like I have rediscovered my entertainment system. How did I ever live without this thing!
