This was my first pop filter purchase, and boy does it help! The filter virtually eliminates plosives when recording your voiceovers, greatly increasing the quality of your product. The clamp works well and allows the filter to attach to most stands. The arm is very flexible and can bend to any angle. The filter itself does exactly what is supposed to do, and it does it well. My only complaint is that the fabric stretched across the filter ring had small holes and tears near the outside, like holes in nylons. [...] My guess is either its normal or the manufacture makes all of them that way. Don't be surprised if the fabric is imperfect. However, none of the holes impair the product's functionality.

It's cheap.
I got it for a more professional looking setup in my home "studio", even though I don't use my nice MXL mic professionally.
However, it doesn't look anymore professional than a pair of pantyhose over a clothes hanger wire, since it came right out of the package with holes in the fabric.
The gooseneck is also pretty sloppy for such an overly heavy assembly, IMHO.
But, it's cheap enough, cheap enough that I won't waste my time returning it. Maybe it will come in handy one day. I just placed an order for the way more expensive metal pop filter that is made for my MXL mix...along with a foam windscreen...which I should have just bought in the first place.

Comments about MXL Universal Microphone Pop Filter:
I have used this product with several microphones, and the actual pop filter works as good as any. However, the mount is a bit weak, and the actual filter part falls out of the housing sometimes. Eh, you get what you pay for, and for the price, I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend stepping up to a more expensive model instead of buying this one.

bulky. heavy. unwieldy. ...and not so sure it really prevents explosives. I was hoping it would really help eliminate the explosive p's, t's, b's, etc. I found it brought down the degree of those pops, but still let 'em through.
Don't know if it's realistic to believe that a pop screen would completely eliminate them, but it seems weak in this regard.
The one thing I really did not like is that it is so freaking top-heavy. If you don't fasten the clamp to the boom just right, it will fall over as a result to it's top-heavy weight.

Comments about MXL Universal Microphone Pop Filter:
Does exactly what it was described to do. Clears up vocals and any popping sounds before it reaches the microphone. It's very study and doesn't seen like it would break anytime soon. One downside is that it is a little heavy so you must tighten it very very tight so it doesn't slip or move. It won't fall off it would move sometimes if it isn't tighten enough.

Comments about MXL Universal Microphone Pop Filter:
This is a great pop filter for the price and performs as well as or better than any of the far more expensive filters I have purchased over the years. The only thing I would wish to be different is for the outer metal frame to have a concave internal cross-section so it might clamp the plastic rim a little more firmly - as it is, you have to have things perfectly centered to keep it from popping out. From sonic perspective, though, it works great.

I was looking for a decent pop filter for my mic, and this filter is just that, nothing special, but for the money a no brainer! It works great it just does not look amazing, and had a couple of little holes in the mesh, but for starting out you cant go wrong, it sits in place and has not moved yet!

I picked this pop filter because it was the least expensive available and I don't know much about pop filters. I'm guessing that it can't stand up against professional grade pop filters but if all you want it for is to attain a more professional sounding recording, it gets the job done.

I've used this filter in real world recording and it performed as expected. Doesn't seem to hamper any frequencies and stops pops. Why would you spend more when this does all you need? Unless you just like spending money, buy THIS pop filter.
I recently discovered my mic stand had been knocked over by rampaging cats overnight. The filter portion popped out from the hoop, but there was zero damage. I just put it back in the hope and voila - like new.

Comments about MXL Universal Microphone Pop Filter:
This pop filter is a good size when matched with an MXL usb.008 mic. The only issue I have found is that the attachment is designed for a standard sized mic stand and the mic stand that comes with the MXL usb.008 mic doesn't work well with it.
The pop filter removed the plosive sounds from my recordings without changing the rest of the sound and made for a much smoother, better sound.
Good design, not compact, but that is not its purpose. Inexpensive for the improvement in sound quality that it creates.

I use this in front of a MXL 770 condenser microphone and it works just fine. Fits well on the boom style mic stand I have. It really helps with the popping and other breath effects. I don't hear any coloring or difference in the tone of the mic by using this pop filter.
