I needed a camera/laptop bag that could carry my main equipment. The D650 did the trick. Had used a camera back pack in the past but alway had trouble with the luggage compartments on the plane. No problems with the D650. On my last trip to Europe (June 08) I was able to carry a Canon 40D with battery pack (attached) along with three lenses (Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 100-400mm, Canon EF 70-200mm, & Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-70mm) flash (Canon 580EX II Speedlite), Apple MacBook Pro (15") portable hard drive and other needed equipment.

This is a huge bag, with lots of storage, including a sleeve for a full-sized laptop. I can't really imagine filling this bag and actually carrying it around. The convenience typically associated with shoulder bags is somewhat lost with this bag due its sheer bulk, making it harder to swing around from front to back.

    PLUS
    -the usual great Lowepro construction
-lots of dividers and features (card wallet, etc.)
    -zip top opening works well
    -great shoulder strap

    CONS
-waist belt too flimsy for a bag of this size
-desperately needs to have a double-directional zipper (like Tenba bags) so that the flap can open AWAY from you if you want

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

This is exactly the bag I needed. I can put all the lenses I need for a shoot as well as 2 bodies and accessories. I carry my lighting in a seperate bag so this allows me to pare my kit to two bags. I like that the bag is very deep allowing two shorter lenses in one hole or one long. Even my 400mm will stand up in this case. If you fill it, be prepared to carry a load! If you only carry what you need it is quite manageble to carry. Like the rain cover and the attachment places because I have lots of Lowepro modular cases.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

I've owned this bag for almost six years and it's still holding up great. In that time, it's always been loaded with gear, but never to a point where I needed more space. It's great for lugging everything around, including your digital darkroom. It's taken bumps, storms, tugs, everything without any noticeable damage.Notepads? There's a pocket for that. Pens? Easily accessible. Sundries? Yup. You can't really ask for more if you're always shooting and getting names for captions. Just a couple of months ago, the metal piece of the shoulder strap came off the clip that attaches to the D-ring on the side. I called Lowepro and they sent me a new one, no problem. Just remember, you probably won't always want to lug this around. It's a fantastic bag for hauling your gear, but once you get to point B, you might want to take out what you're going to use and find a safe place to stash it. It's not exactly easy to move around with it attached to you. I'd say I'd buy this bag again if I ever needed to, but I don't think you can kill it.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

This camera bag is designed and built with quality and value at the fore front. It offers an abundant number of storage pockets, pouches and protective padding. It's weather sealed zippered opening on the top of the bag allows for quick access to all my lenses, flashes and most of my camera accessories. The one minor problem that I now have is deciding what to leave at home just to keep the carrying weight at a manageable threshold.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

I carry a lot of equipment with me, saying this I need a bag that will fit my needs. This bag actually excels in my expectations. One of the greatest, but certainly not the only feature is the fact that I can carry my Macbook pro inside of the bag along with all of my gear. The bag is not so large that I cannot take it as a personal carry on at the airport, but larger than any other bag that I looked at. When it first arrived I saw the box it was in and thought.."my goodness....this might be too large!". However upon opening he box, and taking it out, I was impressed with the size, and the quality of the materials it is made from. The only thing I do not care for is the nylon zipper. I wish that bags of this caliber would go to using a metal zipper as I have seen too many zipper failures in bags. I am hoping that this one will last longer than my last bag.
Another great feature of this bag, is when closed, I can still access my camera from the top through a zippered slit in the top of the bag. I dont have to open the flap all the way to get to my gear, The bag has another strap that goes around the waist to keep the bag closer to the hip so it is not wandering while walking. I am not impressed with the shoulder strap, but I have never been impressed with any shoulder strap on any bag. If you have a lot of equipment, and carry it, I would highly recommend this bag. You can never have too many bags, and this one is a winner!

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

My primary goal was to get a bag I could use to carry lots of gear when flying. The bag fits easily under the seat of a CRJ200 (the small regional jets used by Delta). I also use the bag to store most of the gear that I am likely to use, so I can simply grab the bag and run out the door. It easily holds two camera bodies, two big lenses (500mm Reflex + 70-400mm), a small lens, a flash, and an assortment of filters and other gear.

The shoulder strap is solid and comfortable. The bag can get pretty heavy with all of the gear, but it was not a problem walking through airports.

Extreamly well made bag with lots of space and padding for your gear. Many have noted how big it is although I believe it's just the right size. There are many pockets for organizing things and the removeable baffels allow for great presonalizaion and customization. With all the gear in place this is not something you would want to carry over your sholder in the feild, but for transporting ALL your gear to a location it's great. The strap is Very comfortable. Quality workmanship through out.

Was looking for a case that would hold all my stuff including a 17 MacBook Pro that wouldn't drop a lens if I forgot a zipper. This bag holds everything in a secure manner even allowing you to access gear while carrying the bag. Best bag I've ever owned.

Good bag with plenty of room. Handy pockets and spaces for just about everything I need to carry with me. Flexible design. All weather cover hidden in the botton. Keep looking. It's there! Not the strongest protection for your gear, but I'm not shooting in a war zone...or checking this when I fly.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D650AW Bag:

I bought this bag after several days researching shoulder bags that will hold a 17" MacBook Pro. I knew I did not want a backpack, and I needed my bag to hold a ton of camera gear (2 bodies, 4 lenses, flash, scads of batteries, cards, and personal stuff) as well as the large laptop. There's a huge selection of bags that have laptop compartments for 15" and 13" laptops, but not many shoulder bags that fit the 17" and the rest of the gear. I briefly considered the Tamrac Messenger 9, as I already own a slightly smaller version and absolutely love it, but the Messenger 9 just wouldn't hold enough camera gear as I need it to. Same thing with the Manfrotto Lino Pro VII. The Tamrac Super Pro 14 fit the criteria, but I was kind of put off by the price ($260). For this same reason, I also cut the Crumpler Brazillion Dollar Home from contention- also, I know Crumpler makes a ton of camera bags, but I've never used one and don't know any photog who has so I wasn't all that willing to take the plunge on that.I found the Lowepro D650 and originally thought that, based on the photos, there was no way it could hold all that it claims to. But I did a ton of searching around reading reviews and message boards, and everyone seemed to agree that this bag is alot bigger than it looks in the product photo. I decided to go for it. The price is right at less than $200, and it truly does hold all it claims to. Mine is stocked with everything I need and I don't have to leave anything behind. What's also cool is the included memory card wallet that has a dedicated pocket, and is tethered to the bag. There's a quick-open weather sealed zipper on the top for fast access, and a bunch of little zippered and non-zippered pockets on the front of the bag. The inside gear and laptop compartments are very well padded- You could easily bang this against a doorway or something and it'll take the blow. Also notable is the fact that you can carry this on an airplane- as long as you don't overstuff the very front pockets. It just barely clears the allotted dimensions of carry-on luggage with nothing in those pockets. I've yet to try and fit it in an overhead compartment, but I can attest that it will in fact fit under a seat if you turn it 90degrees and lay it on its face or back.Overall, I'm very pleased with the purchase and hope to get a bunch of years out of it. I'd recommend it to any photographer who also has to travel with a 17" MBP and needs to carry tons of stuff.I wish it had some side pockets or something, but I guess that's what the loops on the side are all about- the other peripherals you can buy from Lowepro? Not a big deal. I give it 5 stars.

While this bag is solidly built, it is very bulky and big. I got this bag as a carry all for working when I needed both my camera and laptop. While this bag holds it all, I just thought it was huge. Once it was fully loaded it did not carry comfortably at all. I returned it.

I do have for day to day the Lowepro Nova 160 AW, but when you are on long trips, you want to take all your gear for any possibility or any need, therefore the D 650 AW is the right size for all your gear.

I bought this bag for my new Canon XF100. The bag is light weight yet padded enough to feel secure that your camera is well protected. The bag is very roomy and holds my camera and loads of accessories; such as, Pro headphones, Wireless mics, wired LAV mic, shot gun mic, batteries, cables, and a lap top. There are also some nice features like the rain cover, the Compact Flash Card Wallet that can be attached to the bag so you wont loose your media, and multiple loops so you can attach additional Lowepro accessory cases to the bag.
