Like most avid photographers, I own more than my share of bags. The Stealth Reporter D200AW stands out as an exceptionally useful bag across multiple scenarios, due to its sublime balance between equipment carrying capacity and relative low profile. I am able to load it up with the necessary gear for most of my location assignments, without compromising agility or inviting load-carrying fatigue after several hours in the field.

It is versatile enough to easily re-configure for different equipment needs, and it will comfortably accomodate a typical load-out consisting of:

    - Pro SLR attached to 24-70mm/2.8
    - Speedlight
    - Light Meter
    - 50mm/1.4
    - 85mm/1.8
    - telephoto zoom (70-300 eaily; 70-200/2.8 tight)
    - CF cards (in provided wallet)
    - batteries, remote release, etc.
    - filter case
    - mobile phone, passport, other personal items

The bag is chock-full of utilitarian compartments that allow easy access to CF media, pens, business cards, etc. in addition to camera equipment. It even has secret compartments for important documents or anything else you might need to stash beyond the reach of even a fairly thorough bag check.

Construction is robust without being bulky. LowePro has significantly improved strap design over the years, culminating in a very well-padded one on the current series of Stealth Reporter bags.

I also own older copies of the D100AW and D300AW Stealth Reporter bags. While these are quite competent and have given me years of unfettered service, the recent design enhancements on the current series(strap, fastener, soft inner padding on the cover flap, inclusion of CF card wallet and soft pouch) make updating to the newer series very worthwhile.

Also, while the D100AW can only accomodate enough gear for casual shooting, and the D300AW is a little bulky and heavy when fully laden, the D200AW achieves a good balance.

I have no idea why this bag is so highly rated. I am not even a picky person, but I am sending it back and shopping for another one right now. It is TOO SMALL. The description tells you: you can fit an SLR camera, 3-4 lenses, flash and accessories. I've read the same in a number of reviews below. NO WAY! And I don't even have a lot - D80, 50mm fixed, kit 18-135, 24-70, SB-900 and some filters, remote et cetera. I have no clue how the guy below says he could "easily" fit " a D200 with a Sigma 70-300 on it and other 4 canon 70-200 f4 L and a Nikon 50 1.4. And you still have two pockets for an SB600 and an LX3." ?!??What?!! Are we talking the same bag?? (That's beside the obvious question-why does he carry D200 with Canon lenses?? :) Besides, the advertised "easy access" to the camera through the zipper on the top is a total joke! Maybe a tiny point and shoot, there's NO way you can get a SLR through that opening.
On a separate note, to be fair, it is well crafted, good quality, just not as big as they advertise.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

At first when I got this bag I was a little concerned about the size. It doesn't seem like it would fit nearly as much gear in it as it claims. But the more you use it, the more you figure out how to best use the available space. At this point, I have a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, 430ex w/ stofen, D80 body, sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, Tamaron 1.4x and 2x converters, a bunch of cables, manuals, and assorted goodies in the back pocket. I put my lens hoods on the strap. As I said, it is certainly capable of holding all this equipment. The Lowepro is very well made and durable. The shoulder strap is thick, the buckles strong, and the zipper can certainly take a beating. The shoulder strap is a very important part about a bag like this, especially if you are going to be cramming it full of equipment. The padding is thick and keeps your shoulder comfortable. The built in CF card wallet as well as the rain cover are great features. The rain cover is sewn into a small pocket in the bottom of the bag, so if it starts raining just pull it out and slip it over. You do have to undo the strap to completely cover everything though. All in all, after getting over the small appearance of the bag, I have found it to be amazing. It's a great size to carry around, with just enough room for my necessities when shooting sports.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

Just took a week long trip and this was a great bag for traveling. I have a Nikon D3200 with one lens and found it the perfect size for that and my accessories. A minor drawback I found while using this bag is that you really cannot access anything from the top zipper.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

I like Lowepro bags, they always provide plenty of convenient protection for your gear. I own more than one bag, just got a mint Nikon D700 so needed another and I have admired the Stealth Reporters for awhile.

Have to admit the description is a bit generous on what will fit in here. I think it's fair to say a camera body with an attached lens, one or two other lenses, one could be telephoto, flash and lots of smaller access. Possible to do three small lenses with a smaller camera body. Also with a larger camera body, you can't fit that through the top access zipper. I believe that would be for the models D300AW and above. Still it's a great feature to be able to have your camera plus lens out and be able to access other lenses or flash through that top zipper.

A big bonus is the "stability strap". When used it REALLY does reduce the weight of the bag by distributing it more across your body rather than all at the shoulders.

I've never found a perfect camera bag, but some are close. For my needs I find the D200AW to be very close. :)

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

This is a well build bag that swallows far more equipment than one expects. It is unobtrusive, easy to sling around and protective.

There are three minuses to this bag:
-the zip through is big enough to exchange lenses bu not enough to pull or replace camera
-the top lid offers relative thin padding compared to the rest of the bag
-the build in rain cover makes it impossible to access the bag

I bought this bag for half price and thus have no complaints. This bag carries my gear in the most compact way I could find, and it has become my favorite travel partner.

If you are looking for a ready bag this might be as good as it gets for around [$] bucks. The size is great, it might seem small at first but after i stuffed it a few times I was able to put two bodies, one with a battery grip, a battery charger, four lenses (one mounted) and a 430EX flash in this thing. I will probably only carry 3 lenses but it did fit 4. The only thing that did not work with my stuff is the quick weathersealed axxess zipper on top of the bag as the camera with the battery grip will not fit through it.

So far, have used for job where I didn't want to lug a lot of stuff I wouldn't be using. I was able to cram all this into the bag, and still zip it and clasp it shut easily: 1 DSLR Body with battery grip - 2 lenses - flash - battery pack - bracket & hotshoe cable - extra batteries. Shoulder strap/pad pretty comfortable. Plan to use on overseas trip where I won't want to lug my larger bag with me every time I go out.

I use my 7D for video and stills. I have a portabrace bag for when I use it for video and wanted a small, easy to carry bag for when I just want to take my camera out and get take some pictures. It is great for that. Its got room for my Body with a lens, 3-4 extra lenses, 580 Speedlite, and some accessories.

It is NOT Huge. Do not expect this to hold everything a pro needs on a shoot.

If you want a bag to hold your camera, lenses, flash, cards, lens wipes, cell phone, pens, etc. This is a great bag.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

Fits my camera body w/ lens attached, 2 more lenses, and my flash with room to spare. However, though the top zipper does not open enough to allow me to remove the camera, it does provide convenient access for lens changes, or the flash.

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

I work as a photojournalist and love the idea of this bag, but I was disappointed that it was so difficult to get my camera, Canon D50 with mid-sized lens, through the top opening w/o unzipping the cover. I am returning this bag and will go, with my camera in hand, to B&H and try out another model. Ordering on-line proved to be a problem for me with this article. the bag is otherwise super, by the way...

I use this for my Leica M camera and 4-6 lenses plus accessories. The bag is very comfortable and has a lot of padding for equipment protection. I really only use this bag on long trips, because the size defeats the purpose of the compact rangefinder system. But I could see using it on a daily basis for a DSLR and 2-3 lenses

I just got this bag in the mail, and I can tell already that I'm gonna love it! It's not for packing all the gear I own, but for a day of picture taking, it is just right. It has the small opening at the top, as all the reviews say, but I believe I can work with it. Looking forward to hauling this around for many a happy day of snapping!

I'm using the bag to carry a 60D plus lens, audio recorder, mic, wires and spare batteries. Plenty of space for all that plus an extra lens if I need it. The straps are comfortable and well designed. I love the easy-access zipper across the top.

I was looking for a bag to carry my Nikon D7000 with a 17-200 Nikon zoom lens,SB 900 flash and small accessories. Everything fits in the Lowpro bag. I also wanted a camera bag that would fit inside my airline carry on so that the unattended bag would not be a target of thieves while I was going thru airport security

Comments about Lowepro Stealth Reporter D200AW Bag:

Plenty of room. I'm carrying 4 lenses plus the camera body, an external flash, filters, hoods, cleaning supplies, etc. The only downside is the tendency to overload the bag because of all the space. Then the bag gets heavy. Great shoulder strap. Doesn't slip off my shoulder like other bags.
