When using this kit with the Nikon SB-900/910, an additional adjustable "universal shoe mount" is required.
This is an Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit. It includes 2- Impact 32" White umbrellas with removable black backing. Umbrellas soften, broaden, and diminish the light output of any tungsten or flash light source. A white umbrella without a black backing may also be used as a makeshift softbox, although the use of the light will not be as efficient as with a light box.
Choosing umbrella size is determined by the size of the subject, and the strength of the light supply being used. Choosing an umbrella surface is as subjective as choosing a paint and brush. Each umbrella is perfect for a 1 person head shot, or 3x4 ft product setup.
Each of the two Impact brand umbrella brackets fit on top of almost any light stand, has different size stud adapters for various grip clamps, includes a cold shoe mount for your shoe-mount flash. It swivels, tilts, locks into place, and accepts almost any small to medium sized umbrella.
The Impact brand light stands are black, air-cushioned, and rise to a maximum height of 8' (2.4 m).
Note:Light stand and umbrella specifications may vary according to availability.
| Minimum Height | 26.75 in (68 cm) |
| Maximum Height | 8 ft (2.4 M) |
| Closed Length | 27 in (68.5 cm) |
| Footprint Diameter | 3 ft (91.4 cm) |
| Kit Weight | 8.5 lbs (3.740 kg) |

Let me start off by saying that this kit is an unbeatable value. The options that can come out of this are about endless. If you're an aspiring Strobist on a budget (like me), this kit was put together for you.
Lightstands: 3.5/5
I put a Vivitar 285HV, a Quantum Radio Slave II Receiver, and the umbrella on the lightstands. Thus there's a reasonable amount of weight on there. The stands do the job, but they're not outstanding. When I adjust the power, or switch something on/off, the stand and everything on it will be wobbling for a few seconds afterwards. FULLY extended will be even more wobbly. But they do the job. The air cushioning sure is nice to have for forgetful people like me!
Umbrella Brackets: 4.5/5
Everything about the bracket is extremely sturdy. There's no give or take anywhere with the bracket. The only thing I don't like is that you can't tilt the umbrella itself; thus the umbrella is always pointed straight outwards. You can only adjust the tilt of the flash.
Umbrellas: 3/5
The umbrellas are silvery reflector umbrellas. They don't do a very good job as shoot-through, because they're too diffused. They do a great job as reflector umbrellas, though. The removeable black backing works well. The actual construction of the umbrellas are weak. Very weak. The metal parts holding up the cloth are hollow and very thin metal, so it bends very easily. I already have one bent umbrella; luckily it still works how it should. I also wish the long beam was longer.
If you're on a budget, click "add to cart" right now, because this kit was made for you! If money isn't a factor, another product may suit you better.

This achieves what it advertises with some minor problems. First off, I realize this is not "high end" equipment and is directed at someone looking to save money. With this in mind the Impact kit is good enough. I mount Canon 580EXii flashes on the brackets and bounce the light off the umbrellas triggered wirelessly. Works well enough, but be aware of a few things:
1. The metal piece to mount the flash on will not fit 580's (probably any canon flash for that matter) unless forced-- and could damage the rubber at the base. My solution was to use the plastic mounts included with the the flashes
2. When using them outside with the umbrellas attached witht he slightest wind and they WILL blow over. Sand bags or some kind of weight (5-10lbs) is a must for outdoor use.
3. Every time I screw anything to secure the bracket to the stand, and bracket to the the umbrella-- the screw chews into the metal. I put gaffers tape on the metal thats getting messed. Might make the Impact set last a little longer. Kind of a minor point, but I'm obsessive about keeping things neat and functional, and chewed up metal is not acceptable.

Comments about Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit:
I just started learning about flash photography so I wanted a cheap kit.
So far the stands and umbrellas do what they are suppose to do and I am able to achieve the results I am looking for when diffusing or bouncing flash.
I received the kit with one light stand broken (as have many others per the reviews I've read), but B&H quickly replaced it with a new one so I am satisfied.
The bracket mounts could definitely be better. I might suggest getting the impact light stands with a different umbrella/shoe bracket.

Comments about Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit:
It's not a high end professional kit but it's light, easy to use and does the job no problem. The sale on this kit came at a good time as I was taking a location lighting course at our local college and this is what we learned to use extensively. If I ever need more I will surely get this set again.

Comments about Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit:
Everything works as it should, although at this price, it is not of the best quality. One issue I ran into with the mounts themselves is that they come in the package "backwards". What I mean by that is if you want the flash to be at the same angle as the umbrella, you have to flip the peg that has the hot shoe mount to the side that has the tripod peg. Otherwise, when you tilt the unit using the handle, the umbrella is mounted to the stationary portion of the mount, and just the flash moves. Overall this is a nice set for a amateur to get started in the world of strobe photography.

These are very cheap materials, so have to use it very carefully. But for beginners, a simple kit like this would the best to start off with. It my opinion, it does the job, so all I have to do is get better with this and then later get the good quality.

If you're looking for a starter studio setup to use with hotshoe flashes, this is it. The light stands are study and the air cushioning is very nice. The two included umbrellas are perfect for my studio work. I bought a 60" umbrella thinking it would be much better diffusion, and in reality, you can put these smaller one's closer to the subjet and get the same effect. The included hot shoe mounts are ok, I use the ones the came with my nikon flashes instead. Overall, a great value.

Comments about Impact Digital Flash Umbrella Mount Kit:
This umbrella setup works perfectly.. but you need to take note of two things: First, the metal bolt that attaches the cold shoe to the stand was put on backwards in the factory. You'll need to put the bottom one on the top and the top one on the bottom so you can tilt the umbrella up and down. When you receive yours, you'll see this right away. Second: Be careful with the aluminum cold shoe, as it doesn't hold the speedlight well. Make sure that the screw on the side is really tight before using, otherwise your flash will slide back and fall when you tilt the umbrella up.
Other than those two, the setup works perfectly. You can configure the umbrellas for either "bounce" or "shoot through". The umbrellas have a removable black cover to avoid spill, which works very well. This is perfect for those who only do portraits and product shots occasionally since I don't think they are built for daily abuse like the more expensive models. These are not flimsy at all, but the stand can be wobbly and top-heavy, so make sure you weigh it down with a sandbag or something heavy. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend it.

These were my first stands and umbrellas, so I don't have much to compare them to. The stands are nice and compact though, and take only a few seconds to set up. The stands get high enough for my needs, and the clamps (? I'm blanking on the right term right now) seem to work just fine. I don't use the umbrellas much. I got a 43" westcott, which I use most of the time. The way the black cover attaches to these umbrellas is a lot better than the westcott. Overall, the price is right, and I'm happy with my purchase. They arrived quickly too.

I was on the fence until they went on sale for $69. At that price point, it's a no brainier. The stands & umbrellas are better than I expected for the price. The cold shoe mount is junk. I ended up buying other cold shoe mounts. You will need weights or sandbags at the bottom of the stands for stability. While its not pro quality, it is a GREAT "starter" kit that should last for many years. One more thing I should mention...the umbrella shaft is hollow and is easily dented with the retaining screw.

This is a faily good deal. The stands were way sturdier then I anticipated, slide in/out smoothly and lock solid. Exceptional! The brackets ship with what IMPACT calls their "STANDARD" model. Don't get me wrong the build quality is excellent, metal & solid. My problem is that the umbrella hole and therefor the Umbrella does not "tilt" it has a slight angle built in but does not tilt. So this will limit the usefullness of this arrangment.Note the flash mount portion of this bracket does tilt, but not the umbrella portoion.IMPACT does howerver make a "deluxe" bracket that does have the Umbrella and hotshoe tiltable. In my opinion they should make the "deluxe" version available in this kit for a few more bucks and just scrap the "Standard" bracket.
