From Neumann, the TLM 49 is a professional studio condenser microphone optimized for vocal reproduction. Inspired by the legendary M 49 and M 50 microphones, the TLM 49 delivers the warmth and presence expected of Neumann. Its cardioid polar pattern suppresses off-axis noise and feedback. A transformerless output stage ensures the highest possible gain while maintaining a low noise floor. The TLM 49 excels in capturing vocals and provides excellent results on instruments as well. The TLM is at home in professional and project studios.

I do not own one of these...yet. But I have rented one for the last two months, and I absolutely love it. I've used it primarily on acoustic guitar and male vocals, while recording a traditional Celtic music band. It makes the guitar sound great, big and exquisite. It has perfect reproduction through the frequency spectrum. I see no need for any EQ at all on tracks recorded with it. On vocals, it is less astounding, just because a voice doesn't have the frequency range of a guitar, but still on this particular vocalist, it's still very good. I wish I had several of them.

This mic is amazing in vocals. It has a balanced sound with deep low end and controlled silky highs.
It works very fine even in acoustic guitars.
I´m impressed with the quality of the low frequencies, regardless, in the paper it´s characteristics are brilliant.
I´m very satisfied with the results when it´s connected through my avalon 737sp.
