The Nikon FSA-L1 Digital SLR Camera Adapter allows photography with Nikon F-mount digital SLR cameras and the line of Nikon Fieldscopes, but can also be used with film-based Nikon F-mount SLR cameras. It is not used in conjunction with an eyepiece, but rather you remove the eyepiece and attach this device where the eyepiece would normally attach to the Fieldscope. You then attach you F-mount camera to the other end of this device, and you're ready to shoot.
Although this adapter is recommended for use with the Nikon digital SLR cameras, it can be used with the F6, F5, F100, FM10, FE10, F65/N65 and F55/N55 cameras as well. It is not recommended for use with the F75/N75, F80/N80 & FM3a cameras because you must determine exposure yourself and what a handheld meter may tell you does not necessarily correlate to the accurate exposure for this combination.
All ventures in the world of telescope photography require the use of a sturdy tripod, first and foremost. You must take great care to keep vibrations during exposure to an absolute minimum. Employing a cable release, electronic release or remote control for tripping the shutter is absolutely necessary. And while it is not necessary per se, a mounting bracket will do wonders to reduce vibrations of your rig.
Note! Not compatible with the Fieldscope ED50 series.

Comments about Nikon FSA-L1 Fieldscope Digiscoping SLR Camera Adapter:
I use this adapter with a Nikon ED 82 scope and Nikon D5100 camera. It is easy to install and attach the camera. The result is a F13 1000mm lense. Pictures are clear.

Comments about Nikon FSA-L1 Fieldscope Digiscoping SLR Camera Adapter:
Purchased to use between a Nikon 60 mm Fieldscope (probably 15 years old) and a Canon EOS body (via a Bowers adapter).
While it is expensive, it appears to do a great job. I have difficulty in getting sharp focus, but that is not a problem of the FSA-L1. Focused pix with good exposure settings are awesome.
The FSA-L1 is well built, and has a provision to rotate the camera body to horizontal or vertical (or anywhere in between). Just unscrew the scope eyepiece, screw in the FSA-L1, snap the body on the rear, rotate it into position, focus, and snap.
My longest Canon lens is 400 mm (with a 1.6x kiss via a small sensor to 660mm). The Fieldscope is f13 1200mm equivalent.
The FSA-L1 comes with a nice soft case and has front/rear caps included.

Comments about Nikon FSA-L1 Fieldscope Digiscoping SLR Camera Adapter:
The FSA-L1 converts the Nikon Fieldscopes into telephoto lenses. It has a built-in chip, which transfers information to digital cameras and thus allows even those Nikon bodies, which cannot be used in automatic modes with manual focus lenses to work with the FSA-L1. The image quality is great when used with the Fieldscope 82ED. This is still one of the cheapest solutions to enter into very long tele photography. The f-stop is only f/13, but with the newest DSLRs and their high-ISO abilities, this is not really a problem.

Easy to install and require a little practice to manage the focus ring in fieldscope to take the best results. Nice and clean pictures.
