The Pelican 1640 Transport Case with Foam (Black) is an unbreakable, watertight, airtight, dustproof, chemical resistant and corrosion proof hard case used to carry any kind of equipment that needs to be protected from the elements. It is made of Ultra-high Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. It has a 0.25" (6.4 mm) neoprene o-ring, ABS latches that seal perfectly and includes an automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure.
The 1640 comes with a two side haul handles, an extension handle and strong polyurethane wheels with stainless steel bearings. It has an effortless release latch for the extension handle. The padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.
This case has a 5-piece foam set interior.

Well built case and well padded to protect a very expensive piece of equipment. The foam was easy to hollow out because of the 1 inch grid that was already cut for you. The retracting handle is easy to use.
A bit expensive but I think it has quite a few years in it.

I have bought many of these cases to protect sensitive items, this one housed a one of a kind custom electronic board and an aquarium, made it to destination and back no problems. Love the foam as you can customize for anything. Will keep buying these and can't beat the free or low cost shipping!

Thank God Pelican is around. The TSA (and some of our tech crew) seem to have some problems understanding that our equipment is valuable but, through all of their negligence, Pelican makes sure that our work can continue and our equipment arrives in one piece.
The only downside is that you run the thing into your ankles because the rolling handle is too short. Otherwise, perfect.

this case is great, the 4 locks on each side really makes a tight seal, and the pre cut foams holds up well after being peiced out for the computer i was carrying.
