The shock mount leaves the shotgun (in my case, a RODE NTG-2) well isolated from the pole. We've not noticed any noise introduced from handling.

There is no way to tighten the joint, and with a full size shotgun mic (we use the AT897) it does not stay in place. Always droops downward.

Go with something that allows you to screw/tighten the joint so it locks in place. This was a bad purchase and I had to buy another product to replace it.

The shock itself seems like it would work fine, but if the mic is always pointing at the ground who cares.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

Our production company has used these for quite some time. They are our favorite of the shock mounts. They are easy to get the mic into and provide good isolation from the banging of the boom pole. However, like many shock mounts in this price range, they aren't too robust. They break fairly easily so make sure to have a spare.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

Great Product. Its compact size is really useful for indoor use in tight spaces. Handling noises are greatly reduced. The rubber bands can be a bit slippery and the mic tends to slide out of its position but a small turn or two of tape on the mic fixed everything. Bottom line a must have in the bag.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

Although this shock mount is designed for shotgun microphones I use it to hold my Rode NT4. It is a tight fit, but the microphone is completely suspended by the silicone rings and does not touch any part of the frame. The joint is sufficiently tight that the mount does not tilt on its own although the NT4 is not light weight. I do not agree with some of the other reviewers who say that the joint is too lose.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

I thought it would be a great product like the sm3 and that it only does not have a shoe mount. It is so , but their is no screw to hold the head in position, once your boom is up it will be loose and you cant boom with an angle.
I had to strap a Velcro and attache it to the boom.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ITEM.
Rode should withdraw this product from the market.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

I wish the bands could be tightened, but then that would mess with the sound transfer, wouldn't it? But for what I use it for, recording local bands live, it's a great deal. If this is mounted on a mobile/moving platform (camera, truck bed, etc.), then I expect it would be problematic.

For my applications, it does keep noise from traveling into the mike body, so I love it.

As far as entry level shock mounts go, this is a decent option. My only complaint is that the previous model had a screw at the mount's pivot point to adjust tension, a feature missing from this item.

So i have a K-Tek Boom pole and this fits perfectly on it. I don't really see any thing wrong about the product nor do i see anything great or outstanding. It just gets the job done. Although i do find it a little pricey for the the way it is manufactured. then again who am i to judge on the prices. if others go for 200 or more. overall it is a good product.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

I had been using a shock mount that picked up every slight noise from the boom pole: a slight brush of the hands and the audio was useless. This shock mount's design is perfect: it allows the mic to practically float in the open casing, producing beautifully clear sound. The product description says it includes a 1/4" threaded connection, and this is inaccurate. I had to refit the boom pole to the actual 7/16" (or M10), for which duct tape made a poor substitute for a shoot.

Its useless without the ability to tighten the pivoting head.

It may be able to use on smaller mics but it wont work on a shotgun mic.

                              I sent my back.

It fits shock mounts and small diaphragm mics really well. Nice fit and finish. No way to tighten the swivel neck. Any mic with a small amount of weight will make the shockmount head swivel moving the mic. Sadly the version with the shoemount has it. WHY Rode?

Don't buy it, you'll just end up returning it. Seriously.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

You cannot tighten the hinge that allows the shock mount to be angled. The shotgun falls over without a mic cable attached, and at best the mic points at the floor instead of your talent. DO NOT BUY.

I tested the shock mount with the AKG SE 300B and the NTG-3, indoors. Both had no outside noise and all tests went smooth. Very satisfied so far.

Comments about Rode Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount:

There is no way to tighten the joint, and with a full size shotgun mic (we use the AT897) it does not stay in place. Always droops downward.

Go with something that allows you to screw/tighten the joint so it locks in place. This was a bad purchase and I had to buy another product to replace it.

The shock itself seems like it would work fine, but if the mic is always pointing at the ground who cares.

I use the shock mount on both a boom pole and with a pistol grip. I use the Rode ntg2 and nt3 with the mount. It silences both mics perfectly and even comes with an extra set of o-rings. My one complaint is that with heavy microphones it can sort of fall and shift position as there is no way to tighten it into position.

Mounts on the boompole just fine. The friction adjuster is nice although I wish it require more force to adjust, it seems a smidge too loose for my taste. The bands hold my NTG-2 just fine.
