The Tiffen 72mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens. Its Water White glass construction is optically pure and maintains consistent light transmission and clarity.
Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

I bought this because I was familiar with Tiffens ND filters and I have to say that I'm a little disappointed. Nearly all these protectors will produce some glare or odd artifact but I guess I was expecting some sort of magic from this. I found that I had some really terrible glare at night shooting down a street with lanterns. In some cases the glare would turn green others would not.I find that I can get some interesting lens flare every once in a while that looks decently good despite it being flare.I think I should have spent the 5 dollars more for a BW but I think the results would be similar. My new philosophy is that, if I'm going to be in an uncontrolled environment where the possibility of something hitting the lens is there, then I use the filter, otherwise I keep it off.

Comments about Tiffen 72mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter:
Like most Videographers will agree, the best stuff is outside. So remember, when you take it out, ... you should use protection. In this case, with a new $5,000+ Camera, taking the time to put on a $35 UV Filter isn't asking too much. And, if you really care about her (the Camera) choosing a Tiffen is protection you can trust, ... shot after shot. "It's a dirty world out there."

Tiffen Ultra Clear filters are a great way to protect your lenses without changing your exposure. Think about it: Which would you rather replace, a scratched lens worth $1500 or a scratched filter that costs a fraction of that?

Was going to buy the Nikon brand and then a friend recommended Tiffen. Glad I bought this instead. Great quality, no ghosting.Fits the Nikon 18-200 perfectly and still allows the lens cover to attach, which I was a bit worried about as some filters cramp out the cover. For this price, it protects my expensive lens! Easy choice.

Comments about Tiffen 72mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter:
I bought this filter to use with my canon 35L prime. It works well unless you are shooting in bright lights, then it increased light flares noticeably. I've ended up removing it for many shoots. Might do some research to see if there are ways of avoiding this, or trying different filters. I also hate to use the lens hood which could contribute. Nothing dramatic, just not entirely as useful as I had hoped.

I purchased the filter for my 15-85mm lens. Filter fits great and it is clear. That's what I needed.

Protects the lens without adding any apparent coloration or abberations. I'm using it on an EF-200mm L f/2.8 - costly enough to warrant some good protection.
Has enough thread on the front to easily allow the Canon lens cover to grasp, just as it would the lens itself.

It`s durable, it`s sharp, it`s made in the USA.. is a great choice for high performance optics. I use iy on my canon ef 24-70 2.8L USM lens and don`t get any vignetting. It`s a great value.

Comments about Tiffen 72mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter:
I hesitate to buy any filter to put in front of expensive lenses but in the end decided to try this foreseeing the day I bump and break the glass on my new lens and curse myself for not buying the cheap (relatively) insurance a filter can provide. However, the glass on this filter is very clear and not noticable in my images, even when trying to find something.

I always put a clear or UV filter for protection on every lens I buy. I have used Tiffen filters for over 20 years as a D.P. and they have never let me down.
Just bought a set of 6 L series Canon primes...a new tiffen filter goes on each one.

Yep, does what it says. This is a bit more $ than some but the Water White Glass is supposed to work very well on the 5Dmk2 and for digital video/photo so I went for it. No complaints, and it beats a broken lens! Don't shoot without one, or live to regret your folly!
