Comments about Kramer PT1FW Spark-Guard Pro DV Line Protector:
For exporting to tape and capturing in my Adobe Premiere CS5 program. I believe it works just fine; but since it prevents static from hurting my camera, it is hard to prove what is NOT happening to my camera. All I can say: I don't have to ground my camera to an outlet anymore, yea!

Comments about Kramer PT1FW Spark-Guard Pro DV Line Protector:
I had issues with the firewire chipset blowing on my Digidesign 003 Rack so I decided to get this to keep my gear safe. Has worked like a charm. Best investment I've made so far.

Comments about Kramer PT1FW Spark-Guard Pro DV Line Protector:
This little device stops and electrical spark from hot swapping fire wire cables and surges in to your pc and along your cables to damaging Fire wire ports in expensive vtrs or cameras.A must for any avid non-linear editor.

Comments about Kramer PT1FW Spark-Guard Pro DV Line Protector:
I didn't know until recently that Firewire devices may be damaged if they are "hot-swapped." In other words, you should not plug a Firewire device into your computer while the device or the computer is powered up. This tiny Kramer product seems drastically overpriced, but if it saves your gear, it is well worth it. I don't know whether it works, but after a near-disaster (with an HDV deck connected via Firewire to a laptop), I now use it religiously, and so far (1 month) so good. I've hotswapped hard drives with it quite a bit, and so far, it works great.
