Fostex CR500 CD-R/RW Master Recorder/Player

You Pay: $373.99

In addition to mastering professional-quality stereo recordings to CD-R/RW, The CR500 from Fostex also offers direct BWF (Broadcasting WAV Format) recording onto UDF-formatted discs at up to 24-bit/96kHz resolution. This results in faster-than-real-time data transfer to PC workstations using a simple "copy and paste" procedure. The CR500 is also an ideal tool for DAT backup in a standard 16-bit/48kHz format.

Playback functions of the CR500 include instant play, fader start, and built-in memory for cue point and program play for up to 100 discs. This makes the CR500 useful for a number of applications, such as event, stage, or broadcast playback.

Multiple analog and digital I/Os allow for flexible recording and playback options. An off-the-shelf USB keyboard provides easy track naming and simple transport controls.

Note! CDs recorded in BWF (UDF1.02) can be recognized only on Windows XP, not on Mac OS

          We record church services --
It can store up to 99 70 minute services, and can burn to a CD quickly -
The CD tray was jamemed on the initial unit --

          Comments about Fostex CR500 CD-R/RW Master Recorder/Player:

I just started using the CR500 CD-R/RW in my recording studio and I'm pleased with the quality and varied uses and advantages this deck has over regular stand alone CD burners. It's great for copying from a digital audio workshop (24 tracks mixed to stereo) or from a PC. I only wish it interfaced with a Mac. I use Logic Pro and would like to burn the high end Wav files. I've gone through the original Phillips CD burner and the Sony 5 CD programmable burner, and I think this Fostex unit is superior in construction and features. This unit is not really for people who simply want to burn a CD from a computer. It's more for pros who want a high end WAV copy for storage or transfer to a PC and Red Book quality CDs for release to the public. It has a learning curve of medium difficulty and is not for the casual user.
