I'm using 11 PG185's in a school play. 6th graders can be tough but the mikes keep on working. Make sure you pull the wind screens on tight as it provides good protection against rough handling. The cardioid pattern avoids feedback which is very important as the kids do not project well so I need to set the gain up high. You must place them correctly for best performance. Overall, the low cost makes these mikes a great value. They work well.

The PG-185 seems weak on the high frequencies. I would definitely recommend a better mike for pro singers.

Comments about Shure PG185-TQG Cardioid Condenser Lavalier:

I enjoy working with "vintage" sound equipment. I have a Shure L3 series wireless lavalier system from 1994 (See picture). This PG185-TQG lavalier replaced the worn out Shure WL-93 lavalier originally with it. It works perfect again, no more crackling noise. The result is clear, flat sound. I have used it for video interviews and a stage production. This old school wireless rivals most other much more expensive wireless systems.

I purchased two of these mics to replace the countryman headset mics that snapped in two. We constantly had trouble with headworn mics (popping sounds, uncomfortable, difficult for a non-tech person to place in the right spot).

After only a few weeks, I will get more of these when my other mics wear out. GREAT range for a lav mic - very little volume increase when the pastors looks down and great range when they look from side to side.

I'm done paying a lot of money for headworn mics!

Pastor's old mic was acting funny with the sound cutting out once in awhile. Toward the end we had to wiggle the cord a bit.

After finding this replacement, there's been a significant improvement in sound quality. I'm not making it up, people in church commented on the sound difference. They think I adjusted the mixer differently or something....

This was also a HUGE Blessing because of the low price instead of needing to replace the whole shebang for $250 or more.
