Comments about Quantum Instruments CS4 Flash Connection Cable:
This "module" is just a simple wire bundle with a few conductors and a connector on each end. Not high tech, not new technology. But expensive. I don't mind expensive if the product is durable or has some other merits.
When my cable was about a year old and had probably been used for less than 10 hours it started falling apart. I'm not sure what the sheath is made from, but it is falling apart. At several places, the wires have become exposed. The cable still works, but I have electrician's tape all over it. And in the curly section, it's hard to do a neat job of taping.
For less than half the price, I bought the Sunpak cable that is used for the Sunpak T2000 battery pack and modified the round connector to match the Quantum plug. The modification connsists of removing two pins and grounding one to the sheild barrel of the connector. That solution works the same, costs half as much and still looks like new.

Reliable. Used it in a shooting of a model of about 400 shots w Sunpack 120J. No problems whatsoever. It was raining and it never stopped working, nor loose... well construction.
