Ultrasone DJ1 Dynamic DJ Headphones with S-Logic(TM) Natural Surround Sound
Ultrasone's DJ1 headphone is designed with the working DJ in mind. The DJ1 has a foldable design, making storage and transportation a snap. The adjustable, padded headband and cushioned earcups provide lasting comfort. In addition, the closed design of the earcups helps block out external noise and lets you focus on the music.
The DJ1 uses Ultrasone's S-Logic(TM) Natural Surround Sound System to take your audio beyond standard stereo, bringing distance and direction into the mix. This provides a 3-dimensional music experience without extra equipment. A more surround sound-like experience is not the only benefit to the S-Logic(TM) system. It also allows an up to 40% lower dB output (3-4 dB) while offering the same perceived loudness, which helps reduce the risk of hearing damage.
The DJ1, like all headphones from Ultrasone, offers strongly reduced radiation emissions; up to 60% less than similar headphones without LE (Low Emission) protection.

These headphones are just solid. I bought my first pair in 2005, and after beating the **** out of them by throwing them into backpacks, not putting them into a protective case, and frequently bending and dropping them, they lasted 6 years before it finally started to come apart. I was more than happy to buy the same headphones to replace them if they can withstand that kind of abuse.
The sound quality is solid too. There are definitely better sounding headphones on the market if you're looking for a nice pair to use while listening to your iPod in the living room, but for club gigs, they get loud, they cover the full frequency range, they adequately cancel out sound, and you can hear everything perfectly fine over a loud system.
The only downside I've experienced is other people telling me they can be a little uncomfortable to wear, but I'm not a whiner, so that was never an issue for me.
I would also not recommend these headphones for studio production. These are great for DJing, but aren't really designed to mix and master studio music with.
I've been told there better bang for your buck headphones of the same quality, but I don't care. These headphones have never failed me, so why fix something that isn't broken?

I took 2 weeks to pick a pair of new headphones. I read multiple reviews an decided to go with the DJ1's. These are rated at 32ohms which makes these very good to use on portable devices(no amp needed), yet can handle copious power. The delivery was prompt and product exactly as advertised. If your on the fence about these- I say go for it!

i found bass i could only hear with my big system's subwoofers. good sealing yet comfortable for 3-hour sessions, with glasses on (no small feat that). my test is, would i buy them again if i lost them or whatever? definitely.
