These VisibleDust DSLR Swabs - Orange Series are specially tailored for cleaning the delicate sensor in DSLR cameras with a 1.6x sensor size range (16mm).
The very soft DHAP fabric of the Orange Series swabs has traditionally been used for cleaning delicate surfaces such as telescopes and other scientific optics, and is ideal for critical cleaning. Due to its ultra softness, less pressure is applied to the sensor through the swabs while cleaning, thereby reducing the risk of squeezing or scrapping debris on the sensor, and the thin structure provides better edge to edge cleaning maneuverability. The Orange Series swabs work best with VDust Formula and also with Smear Away solutions, but are not compatible with the Sensor Clean solution. The unique woven pattern of the DHAP fabric minimizes shedding of the swab while increasing absorbency.
The patented mini-channel paddle, with contour, provides an even saturation of the paddles surface while preventing pooling and vertical flow at the edge. This reduces streaks associated with traditional flat surface paddles. The mini-channels also provide an extra reservoir to absorb any excessive liquid thereby prolonging the moisture life of the swab during the cleaning process.

After happily blowing off sensor dust with my Rocket blower for a couple of years, I finally needed something for more subborn specks.
With some trepidation, I applied the solution to the swab and swabbed the sensor filter. The specks were gone.
This process must be done very carefully, and you need to see that the specks are gone and that there is no residue from the fluid. All in all it works and is cheaper than sending the camera to Canon. But still not something I'd want to do routinely for fear of scratching delicate optics.

These were the first type of swabs that I ever used. I had a fingerprint on my sensor (my camera was an in-store demo model... Which still doesn't explain the stupidity of the owner of the fingerprint), and I figured that the Smear Away solution with the orange swabs would be a good way to go.
It worked like a charm, at the time. However, when I tried using the same combination more recently, the swabs left splotchy moist spots on my sensor. I ended up using some green swabs to soak up the residual solution, then went over it again with the Sensor Clean solution on the green swabs. That seems to work better for me, at least for "normal" cleanings.

Comments about Visible Dust Swabs for 1.6x Sensor - Orange Series (12-Pack):
After a test run on my old D70, I used this product to clean my D200 and D300 sensors. It was very simple indeed - absolutely nothing to worry about. A couple of drops of solution and a pass over the sensor in each direction is all it took to clear away stubborn specks that refused to disappear with blowing or brushing. Now my skies are clear again! Like others, I wonder why these can't be a few cents apiece rather than a few dollars. All in all though, a small price to pay to safely clean an expensive sensor.

Swabs work great. Fit my sensor perfectly, just remember not to get too close to the ends when you swab.

Comments about Visible Dust Swabs for 1.6x Sensor - Orange Series (12-Pack):
The swabs do the job. They're easy to use and clean the filter, as expected. However, the price is way too high for a dozen of pieces of plastic.
Before using them, try a dust blower and a sensor brush to remove easy spots. And get a bright light source to look at your sensor.

Comments about Visible Dust Swabs for 1.6x Sensor - Orange Series (12-Pack):
I have never used other solutions, so I cannot really compare these to anything else. The swabs are easy to use and do the work fine. Before cleaning your sensor make sure you have a bright light source and use air blower and sensor brush. However, they cost too much. It's still cheaper than sending your camera for cleaning into a lab, but paying [$] for twelve pieces of plastic feels like being ripped off.

I tried several brands, but I preferred the orange swabs. Still very pricy (same as other brands)

Was a bit leery about putting things around the sensor of my D200, but I went ahead anyways and the results were great! When used with the VDust solution it cleared the smudge out in 1 pass.
