The Tiffen 52mm Digital Ultra Clear Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens. Its Water White glass construction is optically pure and maintains consistent light transmission and clarity.
Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

I bought 2 of these to use as protection only. They will keep your lenses safe from dust and moisture. Since these are clear they will not change the color of your pictures. I also had one on a 70-300mm shooting through a chain-link fence and got to close to the fence. When my lens auto-focused it scratched the filter a little but NOT the lens. Well worth the small price.

Ghosting and Flare Issues
Bought it as a protective lens cover. Great for keeping dust and dirt from the lens but I noticed that night scenes suffer from excessive ghosting and flare.

It is with no doubt a very good protection filter for my Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake Lens. I prefer B+W MRC scoth glass filters for my most expensive lenses, but for a pancake lens, this is great: very durable, great uv protection and most important, lens protection for a very god price.

Was going to buy the Nikon brand and then a friend recommended Tiffen. Glad I bought this instead. Great quality, no ghosting.Fits the Nikon 35mm/1.8 perfectly and still allows the lens cover to attach, which I was a bit worried about as some filters cramp out the cover.For this price, it protects my lens! Easy choice.
