Questions? Ask our experts:

Rosco's premier range of filters are manufactured in a unique technology to insure the longest possible life under hot theatrical lights.

Three discrete layers are combined in a tri-extrusion process. By sealing the colored layer between two microscopically thin layers of clear film, dye migration is minimized and effective life is extended.

Good safelight filter for LED lights

Pros

  • Good Color Value

Cons

    Best Uses

    • Safelight Filter

    Comments about Rosco #19 Filter - Fire - 20x24":

I converted a 5x7 safelight to use 610nm amber led light strips and 6 layers of this filter material (one sheet is enough for twelve 5x7 layers). The LEDs alone had shorter wavelength light that would fog paper.

With 6 layers of the fire filter the safelight was still very bright, much brighter than the old brown filter that was originally in the light. A safelight test showed absolutely no fogging on preflashed Ilford MGIV after 20minutes. I didn't test fewer layers as the light was still brighter than really necessary.

        Comments about Rosco #19 Filter - Fire - 20x24":

I purchased this filter to be used in conjunction with Rosco E-Colour #210 .6 Neutral Density filter to create replacement filters for my THOMAS DUPLEX SUPER SAFELIGHT. I did extensive fog testing using Ilford VC Paper. Works great. The Thomas safelight uses a sodium vapor bulb that emits a relatively safe yellow color to begin with. Don not use this filter for safelights that use regular bulbs without testing first!
