The Slik Pro 340DX is a complete all-metal tripod setup that's effective for lightweight travel duty when one desires a professional feel. The A.M.T. super titanium alloy legs make the Pro 340DX tripod rock steady yet lighter than it looks. The A. M. T. alloy has a 40% greater strength to weight ratio than standard aluminum, meaning the legs are lighter weight yet stronger than the standard metal used in most of today's tripods.

B&H had a great price for the tripod and free bag. Not a ball-head tripod, but at the price you could buy a ballhead separately and still not break the bank. The tripod is stable with my nikon D90 and 18-200 lens, including when the camera is tilted 90 degrees in portrait mode. It folds down small, and is quite light, but could be made lighter if you swapped out the relatively heavy pan head for a lighter ball head. The pan head works fine for me since I plan on using it for some pano shots. I would prefer that the quick release bracket had a better clamp mechanism. The locking lever just squeezes down on the bracket and it doesn't have a security 'latch'. The bracket is the only reason why I knocked 1 star off the rating. Otherwise, it has great usability... the legs can be set at 3 different angles including a wide splayed-out angle to get it low(you can remove the bottom half of the center column when you want it low). The castings are nice and solid, the leg extension clamps are secure, and it feels like a well-constructed product. I have only used the tripod on solid ground and in calm weather conditions, but it should be fine in the boonies unless it is windy or you have it tilted over a lot. It is a light tripod so you can't expect it to be rock-solid like a heavier model. I took some bracketed night-shots to try HDR, and the pics were sharp. When combined in HDR, there was no blurriness. I recommend this tripod highly if you are only looking to spend around 100 and don't need a pro-level tripod

Had this for about 6 months & it gets the job done but I'm not thrilled with the stability. I would have gone with a heavier tripod but I bought it for travel and its light weight. Makes it portable but also more unstable. In weather and terrain, it tips and sways more easily.
- Great for travel & is lightweight.
- It's "Quick Release" but mine sticks a little so you have to really shake and pull to extend the legs the rest of the way (not as quick as I'd like)
- Pan/Tilt gets in the way and is probably for videographers mostly so I'm going to replace it.
- Is relatively flimsy at full extension and would not trust it in windy weather.
- Feels unstable on uneven ground with camera on it
- Long one piece center column
- Probably best used indoors

I had to get used to it but over all it's great. sturdy fast set up etc. the only problems are : It could use better gripps on the handles and the center pole threads are kind of fragile. I love the fact that you can reverse the legs to get very low angles

We liked the first one so much we bought another one! We like the fact hat it is easy to set it up. It holds big DSLR's with zoom lenses, easy to maneuver. The only bad part is not quite high enough for a tall person, but do able.

I was looking for a lightweight but sturdy tripod in a reasonable price range. This tripod met all of those goals. It's light enough to carry on nature hikes, but heavy enough that I feel comfortable using it even with a heavier 55-300 zoom lens. Very good general purpose tripod.

A staff member at B&H took his time to explain to me the pros and cons of each tripod, and I ended up buying this fantastic tripod. For a decent price, you get a very sturdy tripod, and there are no problems carrying it since you get a case with it. I've been shooting with long exposure and have yet to experience any camera shakes or blurriness. Thank you B&H for this wonderful recommendation.

I was looking for a lightweight tripod that folds up to take up a small a space as possible. This really fits the bill. It's sturdy and unfolds quickly. A real nice value and I'm very happy with the purchase. The case is also very nice, too. I've always had good luck ordering from B&H.

Great support and love how the angle of the legs are changed. My only complaint is that having two grips sticking out is hard to fold the tripod up and take up less space. Also would have expected a bubble level.

Amature photographer who uses 55mm and 300mm lens. This tripod easily supports my camera with either of these lens. It is light, relatively easy to set up, and allows flexibity in setup. My only issue is with the head which is slightly time consuming to bring into use and the vulnerability of the two controls to breaking off in the head. I have been using this product for over a year and just ordered a second one for my son.

Sturdy tripod with tight-locking head and adjustable padded legs will telescope and adjust to most any terrain. The lowest height setting is great for catching macro shots where the subject is close to the ground. I mis-judged the weight, as it's not as portable as I would like - gets heavy while trekking.

The Slik Pro 340DX tripod is simply great! Not only will you not beat the price, it is sturdy for it's lightweight, the knobs all tighten just fine and it's other ajustments work quite well. The quick release attaches to the camera well and the the lever to secure it to the tripod platform is just right. I am totally satisfied with this product; it's lightweight, sturdy, easy setup and well built.

I really like the Tripod. For me, it took me a while to get used to it, because the legs are kind of hard to move it around. Anything else seems great. Its a great tripod for walking around.
