The Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium (Black/Olive) is a padded weather-resistant ripstop nylon backpack made to carry a two digital SLR six lens camera outfit and a 15" laptop computer or 17" Mac PC. It has a padded dividable main section for photo equipment and a removable padded, frame sheet reinforced laptop compartment for a laptop computer. There is a fully adjustable harness/belt system, a waist belt that features multiple clip-on points for pouches and accessories plus hand carrying straps on top of the pack and on both sides to let you "grab and go" from any position.
The Shootout backpack has padded side pockets that feature interior panels that can be moved to convert the space from cargo pocket to QuickAccess interior hatches. This allows fast, easy retrieval of a lens or accessory without having to fully remove or open the entire pack. There are interior clear, plasticized mesh pockets and web loops to hold accessories plus a media wallet and phone/music pouch.
The backpack also features a MSTC (Multi-Stage Tripod Carrying) system which adjusts to securely and optimally carry tripods of varying sizes and styles. A fast deploying WeatherWrap auxiliary protection cover fully encloses the entire harness for hand carrying or storage.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium (Black/Olive):
I was looking for a bag that would travel well overseas through multiple layovers/airports but would fit my DSLR, 15" laptop, additional lenses, flash, & other accessories, as well as space for a sweater, toiletries, and some snacks. I already own a Messenger but it is too small to carry all the goods for a long trip. I bought this bag and worried that it was too big but now I am happy that I kept it instead of opting for the small Shootout. There are other bags out there but I am sold on Tenba quality. The one downside is the weight of empty bag which I gather is mainly a a function of the material and padding inside the main compartment. It should be just a matter of time before they can find as durable fabric at a fraction of the current weight and still maintain a reasonable cost to the consumer.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium (Black/Olive):
First of all, this backpack is probably larger than you expect. The construction is top notch, and it is pretty comfortable. The only parts that I find annoying, is that I'm unable to adjust it such that the belt is on my waist. Instead, it is slightly above my waist which still works but isn't ideal. I'm 6'1", so maybe it is designed with someone shorter in mind.

This is a great bag! Everything has been thought out such as the side grab and go pockets the tripod storage system. The bag is sturdy reinforced can take the weight of the lenses I carry. Everything is thought out well one would think they would give you a cheap media wallet as a freebee even something small as that is rock solid. It even has a built in rain shield which is even odd for hiking bags at this price point. In urban travel one may need to get a lock net to keep unwanted hands off their bag Other that great bag

This bag is just the right size for me in that it comfortably holds all my gear with room to spare. Also, there is adequate room for my laptop with very good padding. I also like the fact that camera compartment can be removed leaving you with a very good general use backpack.

Just received my Tenba shootout. Bag is rugged and very well made. The camera section is very deep. My D3 fits perfectly with 24-70 and lens hood. I haven't taken it out on any long runs, but the bag has all the straps to make it a very comfortable wear.

I shoot stock travel photography. I like the versatility of the Shootout. The extra compartments on either side are very handy. I have a Gopro and this is perfect for easy access storage. Laptop, tripod, two bodies and several lenses quite a load but not too much to ask of the Shootout. The one slight drawback is the empty weight of the bag. That being said, it is a lot of bag.

After researching several leading name products I was happy to find this high quality bag at a price that both fit my budget and needs.
The dividers are very heavy gauge, is very verisatile and I trust it to protect my gear under tough conditions. Some of the features I like are the zippers, equipment accessibility, heavy gauge dividers and the harness cover is particulary nice. The overall quality and features of this bag will not disapoint.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium (Black/Olive):
This is an outstanding pack. Brilliantly thought out. It took me a couple days of tinkering with it to discover all its features--there are so many. I love how the entire padded insert is removable! I just finished a four-day backpacking trip wit my camera gear by removing the insert and simply placing it in my regular hiking backpack. I also love how the side pockets allow for access into the main compartment. My only nit with the bag is that I wish there was velcro above the portions of the insert that have holes for access via the side pockets. Because there isn't velcro there, I can't make those compartments small enough to fit my needs. Nothing a little velcro tape attached above the opening can't solve, though.

Great backpack with plenty of padding for your equipment. Love the fact that the compartment is removable so that you can use it for other things beside photography equipment. Spacious and I love the tripod holder arrangement for various sizes of tripods.

Comments about Tenba Shootout Backpack, Medium (Black/Olive):
This is a backpack designed for the traveling photographer. It has space for my laptop (15") and all my important gear, both photo and video. The thing I like the best, is that it balances well on my shoulders to lessen the strain on those long outings. The instructions say to pack the heaviest items low, so that your back and hips can support the weight better and that seems to put the weight on my hips and not so much on my back. It is worth the money.

We bought this back pack for our expanding camera and lens collection and recently took it with us to Disneyland. The bag did wonderfully, we were confident enough with the structure to check the bag at the airport. The zippers are a little snug but are easing up with use.
This is a good sized bag but it holds everything we need electronically on top of the camera gear. The structure is really easy to personalize to best fit what I need.

I have carried my camera gear overseas and hiking in the woods, with this back pack. I have owned it about 2 years, and it is rugged, and I never worry about my lenses, or camera's getting damaged. It is heavy when full, but once it is on my back, it is very comfortable, and I can go all day with it. The zippers were rather difficult at first, but got easier with use.
I really don't have anything negative to say about this bag. The fact it is heavy, just means my gear is protected.
I can fit all my gear, an iPad or 15" laptop, and full sized tripod, all at one time.

Best I've seen so far - very well thought out and protects my gear as advertised. A little on the heavy side if you fill it up but that's the point, isn't it; something to carry all your gear to the places we go. Backpack is well balanced and the features are efficient and top quality

I've had my original Tenba bag for over 10 years and needed something bigger for a treck to Africa. I love these weatherproof zippers! I know its going to be heavy, but the waist belt will provide support and I feel comfortable having a lot of gear inside.
My only con on this so far is that I am female and the shoulder straps don't tighten enough for me. My impression is that this bag was designed for a man.

this pack is huge. it can hold a bunch of camera gear and extras and doesn't look like it's full of expensive camera gear. has nicely padded shoulder and waist straps for serious hiking too. i needed a bag that could fit as a carry-on though so i had to get a different bag.

Backpack is big enough to be useful yet just under airline carry-on limits. Side pockets for changing lenses is great and does not require the bag being repositioned in front of you. Construction appears excellent.

I started with a sling bag, and quickly outgrew it.Compaired all the backpack type camera bags on B&H and made my choice with the shootout by Tenba. Started with the large version, and read alot of reviews. Some said the large version is really big, so I chose the medium. Very happy with what showed up! Mega room to grow, much larger than I expected. Very sturdy construction and love the way the tripod attaches. Its almost as if they new what I was looking for without meeting me.

I have owned lowepro bags in the past and none of them compare to this. This is the best backpack I have owned for my camera system. It is well worth the money if you have a lot of equipment and you value quality. I have traveled with this so many times and I really cant say it looks worn at all...still looks new. I have never used the built-in rain cover but I am so happy to know it is always there just in case. It's ability to hide the shoulder straps is amazing. Tuck the straps away and this can easily come on the plane with you. I dont use this to store my equipment, I only use it to travel but its really good at storage as well.

I was going to go with the small but I decided to plan for the future of more equipment so I went with the medium. So far it is more than I need.
