I've got three of these, two black and now olive. Everything I'm getting new will be olive. Also have an olive 803 satchel, and an olive F2 bag, a few olive add-on pockets as well.

Here's the thing folks - black screams steal me. Thats it. Its a camera bag. They're good, I like mine, I use mine... I even travel with mine (it never leaves my presence). I've shot weddings and dinner parties with them. I will continue to do so.

But my real photo love is nature, travel, the world, people I meet along the way... and olive is perfect. Its subdued.

Caution - your results may vary, and I take zero blame if you screw up your bag.... Here's what I do with my olive bags. I take out all the dividers, and run 'em thru the washing machine. I use a bit of bleach, and a bit of Borax. The bags take on a life of their own. They get softer, more pliable, friendlier. The olive canvas takes on a greenish brownish tone. The webbing more brownish. Domke must be using the same vendor all these years, because they all take on a similar color effect. The canvas gets a bit of "wear pattern" in its coloring, that makes it look worn and used. The edges get a highlight, not wear, but lighter color (agitation? hey we'll photographers, agitation counts!). They look great! They look like old worn WWII military canvas, but they're not worn. The color on my "washed" olive bags are all a little different, different wear, which is fine. They each have their own character.

I liked Domke when my EPOI-PPD rep came in with some back in the late 70's. I continue to like them. They are the real deal. I was a teenager then, and in my mid 50's now, and I've seen a lot of bags. These work. Nuff said.

I pack three Leica M's and 28/35/50/90 Summicrons in an F2. I pack 5dMkII, 300/4, 100macro, 50, 28, 20, and 24-105 in an F1x. Either way, I can choose to go lighter if I see fit, and the bags have also been known to carry socks, tshirts and maybe jeans - along with a reduced camera selection. I've been known to travel for a week or more with nothing but two F1x's as camera and clothing "luggage". Just sayin!

This is a long detaild review, I hope it helps since it is hard to choose online.
I have been wanting to have a canvas bag for a long time, here's what I found about this:
This bag is a canvas bag, it looks great when there is stuff in it, but has no shape when there is hardly anything in it. It is flexible in every way and can not be compared in protection wise to a bag with soft paddings all over, because this bag has absolutly no paddings except the bottom and the inserts.
It is very big in the inside. The included insert (4 slots) seems very cheap for me though. Basicly it can not accomodate the 2.8 canon zooms with hood attached. Stupid decision by Domke, since this bag is mainly used by reporters who are using 2.8 zooms. Even without the lens hoods I find it barely enough to separate the lenses, I think in the long run the lenses push each other to tight. I had to put the lens hoods in the side pocket. Domke offers wider inserts to solve this problem, to bad that you have to pay another $30 for this, when it is already a fairly pricy bag. A 70-200 2.8 lens will stick out, the height of the side panels will not cover it full, it bothers some, but not me, since the top cover is very flexible and has plenty of room under.
Besides the inserts there is plenty of room to fit 2 pro bodies with boosters and there is still some room left. As someone els also noted the velcro that holds the inserts should be wider so they can't move, but this way it is possible that they loose grip.
The side pockets will not hold bodies with booster, their to tight for that, but they could hold other accesories, a flash like 580ex, or the 3 lens hoods of the 2.8 pro zooms, if they are slid into each other. There is also 2 decent size front pockets, not as big as the side pockets, these are only good for accesories, not big enough for lenses or camera body.
There is a great top compartment sewn into the top, separated with a long zipper. I managed to fit a 400m f/5.6 easily. It is a great idea. Since the top cover is a very very flexible and kind of loose, that compartment is a huge storage place.
Also in the top cover there is 3 meshed pockets for filters and other stuff, also a good idea.
On the back of the bag there is another big compartment. Won't fit a laptop because the bag is not high enough, but could hold lots of accesories food, extra clothing, reflectors, manuals. I don't thing that it is a good idea to put anything fragile to push against your hips all the time, so probably extra clothing, books, manuals will fit better in it. Anyway I could fit at least 8 lenses in it from 15mm to 100mm, but there is nothing to separate them so you would have to use small bags so they don't scratch each other, but it is a huge section if you want to carry things in it.
That is about it, 1 main 2 extra compartments, 4 main pockets.
Overall great bag, big bag, shoulder pad is a must. This bag is not for everyone it is canvas it does not protect as well as a big tamrac, or a lowepro magnum, but it is very durable easily accessable bag, best for reporter usage. Very light also. I would recommend this, but it is not for everybody and it is not my favorite although it looks the best. My favorit is still lowepro stealth reporter 500AW, D550.

I love this bag. Lens dividers could be a little bigger, but it's a great bag. Lightweight and easy to use. It doesn't have a lot of padding on sides and ends, but it makes it easy to get into. Bottom is nicely padded.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

This bag is advertised as being huge, but as a professional I need all the space it has. I use it for 2 D800 bodies, 3 zoom lens and 2 prime lens. It is a great bag that I have used in the rain and snow. The best thing about it is the way it contours around your body, so it feels much lighter than any other camera bag I have used.

a very light but durable bag I use it every day to carry 2 bodies w lenses, flash, batteries, and other miscellaneous gear. In six years of use I had to fiddle with one zipper that's about it, only other maintenance I did was to spray the outer shell with silicone water repellent. This is very nice product.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I like that it's like a duffle bag large enough for several photographic items! Yet not super big. I ca swing it around the front to have quick access to other cameras/ lenses, or push it to the back. The material is rugged. The color is nice too, not too yellow like on the picture online.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I've wanted this bag for a while - mostly because I wanted a classic looking bag, and something that will last forever. I got both. This canvas bag is bomber - the material feels super durable. It is NOT a padded bag, but I wrap my cameras while in here so it works great for me. Many more pockets than I thought it had. Comfortable to carry, even fully loaded. I keep 2 pro bodies in here, 4 prime lenses, and 2 zooms, spare batts, and a bunch of other little stuff that you need to shoot. Be careful of the metal clips if you flip the top closed, and make sure the top is closed before you grab the top handle. I only gave it 4 stars because for those things, the bag requires attention, and I know someone will knitpick the bag for that. Me? - I love this bag.

it is a well made product.

missing not enough inserts, the two outside pockets the cover should be right across, there is room for improvement.

In it I did fit a Leica with a 35 and 2 50, 20 rolls of film, a 5D with a 50 attached, various photography related accessories and clothing for a week. It was quite heavy but it was a roadtrip so I just took out of it a camera when I went out of the car. I could have made it lighter by not bringing the 5D, but I wanted to have the option between digital and film. Best compliment to my Thinktank Retrospective 5.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

After years of cubic bags I ran out of ideas
for lugging my "stuff" around. The interior
space is flexible. Added inserts are available.

Just wish there were tripod straps, although the
rings are available for external attachment, and
                    that will be just fine.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Olive):

I've used a Lowe-Pro Magnimum 35 bag for over 25 years and finally switched to the Domke case. This bag allows me to carry two digital cameras (DSLR and digital medium format), several lenses, filters, chargers, and a Metz flash...with room to spare.

It's heavy but sturdy and allows me to carry everything I need for a field shoot.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):

After trying many, many bags from multiple companies, I keep coming back to Domke bags. These are the greatest bags to work out of and no other bag I've tried is as comfortable. Other bags may be "good-lookers" but the Domke bags allow you to work efficiently and provide great protection for your gear. There is no perfect bag, but the Domkes come as close as a bag can, IMO.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Olive):

                        It's tough, it's rugged, and it doesn't scream "I'm a camera bag."

Only thing preventing this bag from getting five stars is the spring clips that hold the flap closed. They're kinda hard to open and there are two of them. Other than that it's awesome.

Comments about F-1X Shoulder Bag (Black):

I used this bag as my main gear bag while working as a full-time newspaper photographer for seven years. As a day-to-day assignment bag, my Domke F1-X would go through the riggers that included hauling tons of gear and often times being set down in dirt, gravel, snow, etc. It would also shed light rain or snow without a drop getting in the bag. With it's many pockets and dividers, I could fit all of my lenses, camera bodies, flashes, accessories, notebooks, pens, and film rolls, (yes, I used film at one time.) The large pockets on the sides and front are great for additional equipment and they close with velcro. To give you an idea how large the side pockets are, I can fit a 32 oz. bottle of gatorade in them and still get the flap closed. The main compartment was always very easy to open and it also closed securely with metal hook latches. After seven years of abuse, the zipper in the back finally came undone, the strap was frayed and the bag showed wear. It has now been retired to carrying cords, and other grip equipment to photo shoots. I foresee many more years of good use out of this excellent bag.

I'm small so I don't like carrying lots of gear. This bag is the exception! It hugs my body so it's comfortable. It can hold more gear than I need on a shoot, but can hold everthing I need to travel with. Shouda just bought this bag in the first place!
