Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Black):

I have researched long and hard to find the right bag to fit my kit. I have owned a bulky cumpler 7MDH for a couple of years and finally decided to get the infamous Domke. I shoot with 2 big primes on a Nikon Df body. I wanted something easy to work out of and also wanted to be able to pack a lot of items when needed. I can fit my Df, 85 1.4 and 24 1.4 attached to the body with a bunch of accessories as well: notebook, memory cards, batteries, large blower, filters, iphone charger, bottle of water, wallet, keys, phone, and I still have plenty of room. I'm actually thinking of ordering another one just so I have a reserve after 10-20 years.

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I can't get enough of this thing. I have another domke bag (f-5xa) for just carrying around a small rangfinder, but this fulfills my need for a medium sized, carry-everything-you-need-but-nothing-you-don't bag. It's wonderful. I love the novel internal arrangement that allows for great carrying/separation of equipment, but it's not the standard domke "box" arrangement. This doesn't have the most padding, but the contstruction of what materials are there is absolutely bombproof. Sand is a great color for this bag too. Buy it!

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Black):

…it's bigger on the inside. Seriously, it's ridiculous how much you can stuff in this little bag. For example, one trip I got a Canon 1DsII, 17-40, 24-105, 70-200, 50 1.4, 550EX, two huge camera batteries, Off-Camera Cord for flash, handfuls of cards and AAs, mini-pod, filters, lens shades, and whatnots in it. But it's small enough that it doesn't feel too bulky just carrying a camera, lens and flash plus knickknacks. Decide carefully if you like it though, you'll have it the rest of your life.

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Black):

I have a full size Domke side bag but wanted something else that would be a bit more minimal for times where I want to pare down gear.

The Domke F3x is light and small, it could crush up (well, sorta fold in sorta) in a pinch and come with you in a larger bag. I have this one for times where I just want only a bag for 1 camera, and maybe a flash or waterbottle or something. its a good size, dont be fooled, you could throw a lot in there, but I think the magic of this bag is that its small and light and perfect to take with you while moving around, say, shooting on the street, or at an event. There isnt a lot of padding, but thats not what this bag is about, its a mobile bag, for you to move around with.

I'd even consider taking it alongside a fullsize bag or backpack, where the lot of the gear can be stashed, and just this little guy can go with you and support your camera / stuff.

                Great bag.

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Olive):

I use this bag with micro four thirds gear, primarily with a fully gripped OM-D E-M5.

The bag has little in the way of padding; the bottom of the bag has a foam core that will protect against sudden short drops. One can purchase padded dividers if one desires. A single divider comes with the bag (along with the non-detachable shoulder strap and a detachable hand strap).

Two dividers are sewn in (one in each end of the main compartment); the sewn in compartments are large enough to hold an Olympus FL-600R flash complete with case or a Panasonic 45-200mm lens complete with hood. The sewn in dividers are canvas and do not offer much protection against gear being bumped about within the main compartment.

The main compartment, with the two end compartments filled, easily holds a fully gripped E-M5 with the 45-200mm lens attached (hood reversed).

Two external compartments secured with Velcro straps (one on each end of the bag) are large enough to hold an FL-600R flash with case.

While the main compartment is well protected from inclement weather the two end compartments may show a bit of opening, allowing rain to enter in some cases. (It would have to be rain directed in a very specific direction, but it is possible).

The main flap is secured with both a short Velcro strip (very little noise when opening, it is a very short strip) and a metal fastener that cannot accidentally come undone.

The front pocket, running the width of the main compartment, is quite large but does not have a zipper or other securing device other than the main flap.

Inside the main flap is a small zippered compartment, suitable for memory cards, etc.

On the back of the bag,on the side worn towards ones body, is a small compartment not secured in any way. This compartment is, perhaps, suitable for maps or a small notebook. It is not, however, protected against inclement weather other than the protection received by being closest to ones body.

The bag, when carried, "folds in" upon itself. That is, since the bag is not constructed with rigid padding the empty spaces tend to collapse making the bag easy to fit around ones body. This is limited somewhat by the foam bottom of the bag.

Construction is very good; the shoulder strap is sewn in completely around the bag. The canvas material is a bit stiff when new but wears in with time.

The only logos on the bag are sewn into the external end compartments and, at least on the green bag, do not stand out.

For my own use I have removed the single padded divider that comes with the main compartment to allow easy access to the gripped camera with a lens attached. Additional lenses go into the canvas-divided compartments and a flash (when needed) goes into one of the external end pockets.

I rate this bag as a "day" bag as opposed to a "travel" bag. For travel one might wish to have more padding and structure; for a day's shooting bag this bag is excellent for allowing access to gear and for protection against the elements (within reason; see comment on end compartments above).

The lack of padding is not a down check in this bag; rather it is part of the overall design.

                    Heavily recommended!

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

This is great bag. It's looks durable like army backpack, i think it can serve me for a reaally long time. It isn't look big, but i was surprised of its capacity. There are two primary pockets for lenses inside this bag. Though maybe it's even possible to put 2 lenses in one pocket one over another, but i didn't try it yet. There two distinct pockets more, one can be used for a camera. As i put there my 5dm3 there still a lot of space to add any type of accessories like blends, filters or what ever you think is fitted there. And another pocket i used for accessories like battaries, chargers etc, Sidepockets are great also, i use them to keep my hard parts of camera rig, and i stil have a lot of space. Four maybe five average lenses and camera can be easily fitted in this bag. For those who cares, its fine to touch the material of the bag, i think in a case of rain it can stay waterproof for long time. The bag's ergonomics is great. Every thing about this bag is userfriendly, logical and simple. The Domke FA-031 Shoulder Pad makes this bag easier to carry if you'd like to go far and you need to carry a lot of things inside.

Maybe i will find any vices in future, but this time this bag is completely worth the price.

I have a black version of this bag that is nearing the end of it's life after more than 20 years of use, so I just purchased another, this time in olive green. In my opinion it is the perfect camera bag. I usually stuff one or two film SLR bodies in with small primes mounted, and have room for lots of film and an extra small prime lens or two. It holds a remarkable amount of gear considering it's smallish exterior dimensions, because it only makes use of padding where you really need it, on the bottom. Highly recommended.

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Sand):

I spent days trying to decide between the F-3X and the F-4AF. I needed something to carry a camera body or two and a couple of lenses for special assignments. I went with the F-3X because it didn't have the two inserts which seemed to limit my layout options. I am really impressed with this bag. Instead of describing the bag as has been done in other reviews, I want to list some of my arrangements to help others have an idea of what it can hold. My one gripe is that Domke lists the interior as 9" H and it is 8" meaning my Canon 70-200 sticks up about 1/2 inch.Variation 1: Canon 1D Mk IV and Canon 5D Mk II w/ battery grip in center section.Canon 24-105mm f/4L with lens hood in one slot and Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L w/o hood in other slot.(lens hood can go on top of camera bodies).Sun Sniper camera sling on top of camera bodies if no lens hood, or in front or back pocket if lens hood on camera bodies.Canon 580EXII flash with case in side pocket. Light meter in other side pocket. Memory cards and/or Expo Disc will fit in top flap zipper compartment.Variaton 2: Either of these Canon cameras with the 24-105mm or 17-40mm lens attached will fit in the center.Still leaves space for two additional lenses on either inside slot. (17-40mm lens hood will not fit attached)Variation 3: A Canon body only on one side with a 70-200mm with lens hood on the opposite side of inner compartment with room for two lenses on the two lens compartments. These are just some variations to give an idea of what can be placed in the bag. This is not stuffing it. One thing is that if the center compartment gets stuffed too full, it takes away from the space of the side, front and back pockets.Filter packs will also fit in the bag and the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L will fit in the lens slots. For my purposes it is perfect portrait job or other assignment needing a body or two and lens or two. Since I usually wear a photog vest or jacket, I carry filters and other small items on my person so I don't need it in the bag. I am well pleased with the bag.

I purchased this bag to carry my gear along with a bit of food and water. A 1 liter Nalgene fits nicely in one pocket leaving anough room for camera, lenses and accessories. I like the way it can be easily configured. Some might complain there is not enough padding but I feel there is enough protection and it allows easy access to the items needed.

I did a lot of research before I decided on this bag. I travel a lot for work and wanted a bag I could carry my Canon 60D with the attached Sigma 18-250mm lens and this bag does the trick. I can also carry my wide angle lens and speedlight in the main compartment. I use the two side pockets for my extra memory cards and batteries in one and my wallet and cell phone in the other. It is very sturdy and even with all that stuff in it is very light to carry. I would highly recommend this bag.

Ordered this bag because it looked comfortable. Turns out it was a fantastic buy - fits my d800 with plenty of room for flash and an extra lens - which barely takes up the main compartment. I am a little cautious about my stuff so I bought some neoprene pouches - one fits perfectly into a side pocket, and another one I slip over the end of the attached lens. Heavy canvas - so it is sturdy, but still has that messenger bag flexibility that I wanted. Not much padding - but I love that I can add that as needed and things stay put. Fits close to the body even when full. Easy access!! So much easier to use than the heavily padded sling I bought from another manufacturer. Definitely has become my everyday bag. This is one of those bags that will just get better with age.

I am a wedding and concert photographer and all I can say is that this bag is one of the best investments that I've done so far.

I my Nikon D300 with a 50mm attached, 3 additional lenses (18-55, 10.5, and 50-150mm), SB-700 flash, and accesories and there is still room left for more stuff.

The build quality and materials are great. I was a bit worried with the space after going through a lot of pictures online, but I am very pleased to find that it carries all my equipment.

Finally, for all the buyers to know: the bag only has padding in the bottom, but not the sides or the inner divisions. This is not a problem for me, as I am very careful with my camera and lenses.

Comments about F-3X Shoulder Bag (Gray):

I am glad I bought this bag, I carry it everywhere I go because it looks good and the bag itself is not heavy. The shouler strap is big and comfortable. However it doesn't have a shoulder pad which I would have prefer because there is a non-slip material (rubber like) on strap that goes against your body and it can pull your shirt when you try to swing the bag to the front. But that only happens if you decide to wear the bag accross your body like a sling bag.

Another thing that I need to worry about is that there is no padding at all, not even at the bottom of the bag, so I need to put it down gently.

However, I still like the bag, it met my needs which was size and style. And it was on sale. Great buy.
