The iLevel 14" Laptop Stand from Rain Design is an adjustable-height notebook stand designed for use with the Apple MacBook Pro or PowerBook G4 series of computers. The stand allows you to bring your notebook screen to eye-level on your desk and requires you to have an external keyboard and mouse for your notebook to use comfortably. Comments about Rain Design iLevel 14" Notebook Stand:
After looking into several options to raise my MBP up to around 9" for use at my desk, I came upon this model. I looked at and considered the more popular Rain Design stand but it wasn't adjustable. The other, more bare-bones stands seemed okay aesthetically but had only set levels where this one has a range of height levels between 7-9" (I think). I like the way it integrates with a MBP aesthetically, looks nice on my desk and seems of solid construction. The swivel feature is nice and unique among laptop stands. I am almost completely happy with this stand except for a few issues that balance out with a positive end result to my satisfaction. The first issue I had was that it was HEAVY!!!! I live in NYC and stopped at B&H in store because I LOVE the experience of shopping in store. I hauled this thing quite a few blocks and it was back-breaking to carry it. I guess most people should have it delivered or have a strong weight lifter to carry the thing. On the upside of all that work, it is an extremely sturdy piece of equipment. All metal, no structurally significant plastic pieces that I can think of. On that note, I have to say that I sort of expected this thing to be like a tank, built like it feels... SOLID (even keeping in line with the quality of Apple products). But when I got it home, I was quite surprised when, while raising it up, a bolt popped loose and the stand became unusable. I guess the holes for the bolts aren't at such a precise tolerance to hold up to much shifting. The thing is kind of primitive in how it provides support - it's the weight of the laptop that plays against the minimum level you set the support at. [...]. Very happy now but afraid to fiddle with it too much.

I use this on a table with my laptop on it,which allows enough room for my external keyboard to be used next to it.
Very well made and very sturdy. Holds my 17.3 inch laptop nice and secured.
Only draw back is I wish there was a stop to keep the base from turning so easily if you don't want that function.
