The fader works fine and I find very useful the Read, Write and Touch buttons. The PAN knob is not good, is not accurate and feels cheap. Sometimes FaderPort makes Pro Tools to freeze and play forever.

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Fader and Transport Control Unit:
I really needed a controller to simplify recording and mixes at home but didn't want to spend much money. I was hesitant about compatibility with Sonar X1 Producer and 64-Bit Win7 but I saw others had it working. You'll need to dig around for some tech info on copying a .dll file and registering it with Win7 (not really complicated though). All the functions work for me and I'm getting a ton of use of the product. There is even functionality within Sonar to setup custom functions for some buttons. Volume automation is simplified with this product. I would recommend the FaderPort if you're tired of playing with your mouse during mixing/recording. The only negative thing I've found is the Pan pod is 'jumpy', but I have not done much research on that, I'm guessing a firmware update or software fix might fix that. Not an issue for my use though.

After locating a modified DLL at Kockos furum, I can now customize this fadeerport through an .ini file.
Works great, cheap and reliable, just don't "upgrade" your firmware if it works since the motorized fader won't work. Vegas Pro claims they support the faderport since V9 which is BS, but I'm not surprised since I don't even waste my time trying to get answers from their so called tech support. But this is not a problem with the Faderport itself... If you don't use Reaper by now then I can't help you (can't see why on earth you wouldn't) :)

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Fader and Transport Control Unit:
I'm using this with Vegas Pro 11, Win7/64. I returned a more expensive 8 fader unit and replaced it with this device. It's much better! The singel fader is very smooth and responsive, the buttons are very useful and do most of what I need. The ease of set up is great, the other unit needed a lot of "tweaking" and frankly I only used one fader at a time. Perhaps for more complicated mixes a larger board would be useful, but for me this is perfect.

used to mix on a macbook pro running logic pro 9.
faderport speeds up the mixing process and gives a ood hands-on feel. on the downside, not 100% compatable with logic...
i really like having a fader and knobs having cut my
teeth on analog gear...highly recommended

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Fader and Transport Control Unit:
As forum posts will indicate, installation is a confusing mess. Actually had to DOWNGRADE to a previous firmware file to get Faderport to function properly with Sonar 8.5 ... but finally, all is well (no thx to Presonus support, which has yet to answer a single email).
The unit itself functions nicely - and although old keyboard and mouse habits die hard - the usefulness is significant with very limited desktop space used.
Better Presonus support (ok, actually ANY support!) would be appreciated. They seem to have abandoned this product which is a shame. I almost returned it out of frustration, but it's a nice unit at a decent price once you can get it working properly.

For Cakewalk Sonar X1 users: DONOT buy this product! It is advertised (in the owners manual) to be compatable with Sonar, but it doesn't say: NOT with X1. [...] I lost the reciept- Don't let this happen to YOU!

I wasn't sure about this one, have been reading reviews like cheap knobs etc, but honestly I've been gladly surprised with it's ease of use, practicality and actually it comes in handy, does not take too much space, and once you get used to it, you, almost, would not use the mouse or even the keyboard. The fader is automated (it moves) but only when plugged (electrical power).

I was only able to get the FaderPort about 75% functional with Soundtrack Pro. Couldn't do the most essential thing: write automation. Too bad, 'cause I love the motorized fader feel, the solidity of the thing. Would definitely use if I had one of the compatible softwares.

I use this for my PT 9 setup; I write music for a TV show and an internet show and this is the bomb for us "old schoolers." You don't need a whole set of faders, this one will do the trick. I would ultimately like to see an EQ option but for what I use this for it is perfect. It does feel a little "cheap" on the fader control, but seriously, the heart of the unit is first class!
