The Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 C Sonnar T* ZM Lens is a fast, bright lens that offers well controlled distortion and produces a very accurate representation of objects. The C in its name stands for Compact, and this lens is not much bigger or heavier than the slower 50mm f/2 lens in this same range. It is a very versatile lens for photo-journalistic work in general and for available light photography in particular.
The Carl Zeiss range of T* ZM-mount lenses offers high standards in terms of performance, reliability and, of course, image quality. You can count on highly advanced flare control for crisp and brilliant images, and virtually zero geometric distortion that ensures precise accuracy when reproducing shapes, especially useful when photographing products and architecture.

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
I wish it were a little less, but I like that it fits very securely. Great job of not blocking too much of the finder.
I'd say its a good buy for the Zeiss 50 f/1.5.

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
After I read a lot reviews and talk to some in the forums, I decide to buy this lens, some people complain about "back focus" but for me is not issue, I use for Portrait and Street Photography on M8.... and the results is amazing! Its very small lens I really enjoy use, I like the bokeh more and more....
I had Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 but is too big for me.... and poorly quality control....

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
I am using this lens on a Leica M9 body and also on my NEX 7. It is not as 3 dimensional as the Leica lenses and maybe not quite the same resolution but the richness in the colors make up for it. It is what I wanted it to be.... a real alternative.

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
Very well built and with the excellent novaflex adapter feels perfect on a nex 7. Peak focusing and manual focus assist on the nex makes this lens very easy to use. I use it for portraits, atmospheric landscapes and street images. It has a special look that can bring out gentleness and emotion in portraits. Some of my best B/W street images come from this lens. The silver also looks great on a nex 7.

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
i use this lens on both leica film cameras and on a Sony NEX-5 for digital. It is very well built and very versatile. I love the 1.5 aperture for portraits and I find the bokeh very pleasing. Some do not like the style of the photos generated by this lens, but I do very much. On the Sony, it is a joy to use and very easy to manually focus with the focus peaking feature and manual assist. it takes 46mm filters so you may have to get a new size if your other leica lenses are 39mm.

Comments about Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 ZM Lens - Silver:
The Zeiss 50mm Sonnar is a great lens for everyday shooting, especially if you value solid construction and superb results. The focus ring is smooth and responsive. The image quality is excellent. My only issue is with the cost of the hood for this lens, which was not included.
