Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

My Sansui 4000 (ordered when in Vietnam; 1969) let's see... that's about 45 years of frequent use... finally took a dump in one channel. It was a high end model at the time, so it had some nice features. My new Teac has most of those features and some additional features- great deal for $[$]including shipping. The only feature I'm not pleased with is bass & treble can only be adjusted for BOTH channels; not able to adjust bass and treble independently for EACH channel. Actually, I carefully compared 3 receivers at B&H in the same price range, and this Teac has features neither of the other 2 had (Sony and Pioneer). Happy with this receiver/tuner/amp.

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

I purchase these for our HS classrooms to use for multimedia systems. I have about 20 and they are all rock solid and work every day. More than enough power for the rooms, and very easy for some of our non-technical people to use.

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

I bought this receiver 01/14/13 and I received it from B & H two days later. Hook up was very easy and love the phono input. Hard to find those these days except on very higher priced units. Tape monitor circuit also a plus being I have an equalizer that I use. The unit has great sound and a good tuner section. With just the FM wire antenna I get all the stereo FM staions in the area that I lsten too with no problems. The only drawback I have found so far is the loudness control coud have a bit more "punch" to it, and the switched oulet only is active if the receiver is completely off and not in stand by mode. Other than that, I have no complaints and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

This product is user friendly. I bought it because it is one of the few receivers that have a phono output on it. It's not hi tech but it was able to allow us to listen to vinyl records again without spending more money on a pre amp.The sound is wonderfull.

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

I purchased this unit to replace an aging, poorly functing Sony. The one flaw that this unit I received has is that the A Channel output has a non-functioning Right Speaker output. The B Channel works pefectly. Otherwise, the AG-790A works beautifully. The controls, including the remote, are almost illegible, due to the size of the text and inks used. I do not plan to return the unit. I received it from B&H in less than 24 hour (free shipping). (I live within 25 miles from B&H)

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

I was looking for a good receiver for my simple home stereo, and didn't have a lot of bucks to spend.I have a couple different pairs of older JBL speakers I'll be trying out with this, and so far, I can say that even with not a lot of bells and whistles , it is a very good sounding unit.I always liked TEAC as a brand name, though my experience with them had been limited to cassette decks[still have an older TEAC deck from late 70s I love].Not a lot more to say; I like it and it does what I need.I also bought it for the one function it offers that a great majority of other units don't have; phono inputs...now I have to dust off my old reliable turntable and get connected...otherwise, primary use is for CD play, and for that, I also purchased at the same time a new TEAC single disc player, which mates nicely to this receiver.A friend referred me to B and H Photo as a place to browse while online shopping..They had all the things I wanted at good prices, [...]I'd order from B and H again!

I have six of these receivers already in service wired to a low-power FM Stereo transmitter w/audio mixer. A 300-CD player, door-bell, iPod, TV audio & computer audio all feed into the system. Twenty-four speakers fill the whole house with fantastic sounds! Plus it's the only receiver with a "Loudness" button.

The best bang for the buck. Remember it's a stereo. Not a home theater system. And if your looking for just a stereo. Look no longer. I hooked up 2 small Bose bookshelf speakers with a sub-woofer. And it works great. Looks pretty good too. It urges you back to the old days. When you were more into listening and not into playing with the stereo.

You can't believe the great sound that comes from this unit. It works so easy and gives a clear sound that's the surround sound that I was looking for. Great price. Almost over looked this bargain. I am thinking of getting a second one for the bedroom. We like the performance that much.

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

This Teac receiver has taken a lot of hits from reviewers in other places, but it's unfair to compare this to home theater A/V system quality.
I am using this for connection to a cable box via the video/aux input for a small bedroom tv. The bass response is actually very good without need of a subwoofer. Signal strength for the tuner section is good (I live in a high rise building in NYC) but I would recommend purchasing an FM antenna which is better than the one included. This receiver also has something which has become all but obsolete-a phono input for connecting a turntable! Overall, if what you need is a receiver with a phono input & what you want is good clean sound at an affordable price, then the Teac AG-790A should be your choice.

Comments about Teac AG-790A Stereo Receiver:

Good receiver overall. Easy to use. Bass is a little weak when used with lower efficiency speakers (I have it hooked up to Large Advents). My only minor gripe is you have to use the remote to put it in standby mode, if you turn off the power manually, it loses your tuner presets after 72 hours of non-use.

I wanted a good performing, easy to set up, two-channel stereo receiver, and that's what I got. I am very happy with this unit. The FM reception is excellent.

The only thing a prospective buyer should keep in mind it the unit is not recommended by manufacturer for use with speakers with impedance less than 8 Ohms.
