Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion - 8 Oz.

You Pay: $32.95

Rockland Liquid Light is a silver-gelatin liquid emulsion designed to be easily applied to any material.

Liquid light can be used for photographs on wood, glass, ceramics, plastics, chinaware, fabrics, metals, stone, walls, artist's canvas, even an egg!

Its even possible to make salon-grade prints on the many handmade papers that are available on the market.

Printing with Liquid Light is the same as with black-and-white enlargement paper. Under an amber or red safelight, brush the emulsion onto the surface to be coated. Wait a few minutes for it to firm up, then expose with an enlarger or slide projector. Process with conventional paper developer and hardening fixer. The print will be archivally-permanent with a full range of tones from warm blacks to clean transparent highlights that reveal the texture and color of the material underneath.
Exclusive Features:

  • Contrast: medium high, approximately #3 grade.
  • Coverage: Approximately 1 1/2 square feet per ounce.
  • No fumes, odors or VOC's: Liquid Light and other Rockland emulsions are made exclusively for darkroom coating and are the only brand of photographic emulsions with no phenol.

Comments about Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion:

I have printed on wood and ceramic at this point and am quite happy with the results. There is a little bit of experience needed when you work with it, but that comes quickly. The first couple tries didn't work, but that was because I didn't follow directions properly.

      It lasts for many prints!

Comments about Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion:

I used this product on glass with Polytoner to create multilayer multicolor image from black and white negative. The good news: the instructions will walk you through the process, the coverage is good, and it's not too difficult to use. The bad news: you may need to visit your local hardware store, grocery store, or pharmacy for surface aids to apply the liquid light to, such as clear oil based varnish, or gelatin. Also if you use only film developers you'll need to pick up a paper developer.

Comments about Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion:

Easy to use, sticks to almost anything, similar quality to regular photographic paper. I would recommend buying more than you think you'll need because often 2+ coats will be required. It has the consistency of Elmer's glue and can be a little tricky to get a smooth coat, however.

Comments about Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion:

This product is great you can literally put it on anything. For the best results on paper (like true photo paper emulsion), definitely use a finger brushed results vary greatly. Thicker emulsion will gel in the chem and will mar and rub away easy so be careful.

One of the best liquid emulsions I have tried to date. Creates some amazing imagery on all surfaces, glass, wood, papers, etc... Has become a clutch creative tool in my work flow! Just be mindful the gel takes a bit to liquify, but I think it just requires more patience.
