The Cokin Creative Filter System consists of a rectangular plastic filter holder with four slots (one for Cokin rotating filters and three for rectangular ones), a variety of optional adapter rings which click into place and rotate, and many optical resin filters.
There are two Cokin sizes, "A" & "P". The "A" series is adequate for 35mm cameras and camcorders and fits filter sizes from 36-62mm. The "P" series covers diameters from 48-82mm and is generally preferred for everything, particularly wide angle lenses. Over 100 filters and a wide range of accessories are available for each system, i.e. modular lens hoods, lens caps, and storage boxes.

This filter holder is easy to use, very lightweight, and about 5 times less expensive than those from Lee and Hitech. I've not used those products, so I don't know what benefits they offer other than how the Lee holder lets you configure the slots precisely to your needs.
If you're not sure if you're going to be a heavy user of this type of filter system or if you'd rather just hand-hold the filters, this product is inexpensive enough to try it out. If you don't like or use it, you haven't spent that much. Also, having the holder instead of hand-holding lets you fine tune everything with landscape shots without having to worry about a graduated filter line moving up and down. If the front of your lenses moves with focus changes, you will have pay attention so that the holder doesn't rotate during focusing.
Since this holder works well with all major brands of 84/85mm square and rectangular filters, it's even more of a bargain.
The only con I can think of for this product is that it may flex over time with the Hitech filters since they're 1mm bigger than the Cokin brand.
I'm not going to knock it for vignetting since you should buy the wide-angle holder or a larger filter system if that is a major concern.
I have used this with the 67mm adapter and a 52mm to 67mm step up ring on a Nikon 18-55 kit lens and that setup vignettes up to about 22mm to 24mm focal length. I would expect that replacing the step up ring and 67mm adapter with just a 52mm adapter would alleviate some or even most of that.

Filter Holder works well
I use this to hold my Singh-Ray neutral density filters. It works great to slide the filter up and down. It is also very sturdy.

This is my first filter holder and I did my research to find one that would fit my needs. The holder is solid and well made and integrates into the ring adapter with ease. Since the filter "slides" into the holder I was concerned about it falling out. When you slide that filter in you "know" its not going anywhere. It's solid and well made. My recommendation convinced my other photographer friends to buy one too.

Comments about Cokin "P" Series - Filter Holder, 67mm Adapter Ring and 28 Page Pamphlet:
I have used Cokin filters/holders for years, so I have come to expect a certain level of quality from them. In the past, I have used the "A" series with my 50mm Pentax lens, and had great results. With the addition of my Pentax DSLR, I decided to move up to the "P" series. I would encourage anyone who has a DSLR to not give in to the temptation of using software to get different types of shots... It's bad enough that we are quickly losing the quality of print film, but never give up your creativity that using filters and manual mode can give you. You will be happy with this product from Cokin. [...]

I use the Cokin P-Series filter holder and adapter rings to outfit my all my lenses. This includes the notoriously difficult to accessorize medium format Hasselblad/Zeiss 50mm Distagon C (67mm adapter). I can use the same holder and filters whatever my application and that lightens my load and financial burden tremendously. My thanks to Cokin and B&H!

I bought this filter holder for the 67mm adapter ring. The filter holder that came with it is now my spare holder. The plastic holder is durable and holds the filters securely. The holder will vignette on wide angle lenses. You can either purchase the filter holder specifically made for wide angle lenses or cut the holder down with a Dremel™ tool or Xacto™ knife so that it only holds one filter.

I am using the product for outdoor scenery shots, and will purchase a diffuser filter for some effects for shooting weddings. I love the ease of use of the P series from Cokin. I have used many screw on type filters, and this is so much better. I can slide filters up or down (if graduated) and can simply get an adaptor ring to fit any new lens I purchase. Simply put, Cokin, has made an affordable filter series that works on all my DSLR camera lenses.
