The Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release makes it easier to use the camera when placed on a tripod or copy stand. With this remote, there is no need to actually touch the camera when releasing the shutter thereby minimizing any camera shake, and users can work more comfortably and produce sharper telephoto and macro images. The long cable (1.5m) means that the user can step away from the camera when shooting, or place the camera in awkward positions where using the on-camera release is difficult.

If you take time exposures, you need this and a tripod to take steady shots without touching the camera. The trigger button is just like the camera's shutter release, even allowing you to engage the auto focus. Press once to release the shutter, press again to close the shutter. The result will be a perfectly still shot.

From a purely functional standpoint, the remote works fine. It is the quality of its construction (particularly for the price) that has me wondering if it will stand the test of time. My Canon wired remote for my XTi seems much more rugged in comparison.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release:
I splurged for the factory Panasonic release for my G-3, because it had the "L" shaped plug, and it was well worth the price. The cord hugged the body and was out of the way, I can only imagine how dangerous to damage the after-market plugs would be, sticking up in the air, perpendicular to the body. The button control seemed a little "long" to push, but you can make no mistake pushing it halfway down, and then following through...better to be a little long than too short!

The remote release aids my confidence in low light level photography. It has a positive feel, and the cord is long enough yet not too long.

I received the remote shutter release
and I am happy with its performanance for
both as a remote shutter and time lapse
photography. I think it is worth the
money if it keeps on working as it has.
I received the order promptly and in
good condition. I would deal with this
seller again.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release:
After reading so many reviews about this product..."too pricey"...."buy a cheaper off brand", etc., I decided to purchase the recommended shutter release to go with my new Lumix G3. I have used this cable on a daily basis for the past three weeks and it works PERFECTLY! The design is easy, the cord is long, and I have confidence that it will work every time. The lock mechanism is solid and easy to engage and disengage after even a long open shutter timed photo. I know that it wasn't cheap and I did debate buying a knock off, however, I am now happy that I just bit the bullet and bought what I truly thought would work the best.

Expensive but worth it. I find the focas using the remote unit wants to be a bit unstable but I think it is something I am doing wrong...I need to work with it more.

Can't think of anything wrong with it! (Probably not made to sit on) Super smooth and easy to use, just plug it in and go. Very light weight and compact for travel. Wish my other cameras could use a remote. I love that I can look up at my subject while taking pics. Although I won't use it all the time, it sure is great to know I have it when I want it.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release:
The shutter release is used for astro-photography. I do this using a Lumix G1 camera with a Meade 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain as the lens. The release eliminated shaking, and the ability to lock the shutter in the open position is very valuable (a must) for long time exposures.
I am completely satisfied with the purchase.

I used this to setup a "photo booth" at a wedding reception. People just had to hit the button and boom a picture was taken. Worked like a champ for over 200 photos.
I used this with a Lumix GH2, be sure your Panasonic Camera has a remote plug some Lumix models do not.

Comments about Panasonic DMW-RSL1 Remote Shutter Release:
I use this on tripods for long exposure work, or on a monopod as a "finger extender" when I'm shooting action from angles where it is impossible to reach/touch the camera. For the latter especially it is invaluable to have this item. Not much else to say really as the product itself is simplicity defined: You plug one end in the camera, the other you use to fire the shutter. The cable-length is right (quite long) and it is well constructed.
My only complaint about this is the price. At least here at B&H it seems to be a healthy discount to Panasonic's list price, which is nearly 80 bucks.

The remote is small and very functional. Button acts exactly as shutter button on camera, 1/2 depress for focus and full press for shutter release and has lock-on position as well. cable is very light and just long enough to allow for freedom without getting tangled up.

Works as advertised. It is plastic though. An aluminum one would be nice. I just got it so I am not sure the longevity of the product yet.

I purchased this wired remote at the same time as a Vello wireless with VERCCP1 cable for Panasonic. I use the Vello, in wired or wireless mode, with a G3 and the DMW-RSL1 sits in a storage box.

I use it to trigger the Lumix GH2 and GF2 when they are used on tripod.
The unit works very well but I wish it had more functions - like time-lapse for instance.
There are cheaper products that do more.
I hope Panasonic is taking note.
