Being used on a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 Mk II. I don't know if my experience is typical or not. So far I have printed about 30+ 13X19 prints on glossy and photo rag paper, with varied color content,(no dominate color throughout prints made) and I have gone through 3 Photo Magenta cartridges, 2 Photo Cyan and 1 Yellow cartridge before any of the other cartridges even show any use. The only problem with this is for some reason locally the stores only carry 4 of the 8 inks used for this printer and they are the 4 colors that seem to be used the least. Even the local [...] store, only carries a packaged 4 pack with the least used colors. ie: red, green, black, Yellow???? and do not carry or plan on carrying anything more. So it looks like I am stuck having to mail order ALL of my ink unless there is an emergency and I need a color that is available locally. I am just not sure why I am going through this color at such an uneven rate although I am printing in a wide gamut ie: not just RGB. The ink itself is excellent, dries and cures fast on both glossy and photo rag paper. Not cheap though, but good ink and paper never have been.

Canon printers make great photos. (plus)(now minus)They WAY over-claim the page count. They claim 280 pages for this cartridge, its barely 25 for anything with skin tones. So you have to stand by while printing photos to change ink cartridges every few minutes (1 of the 8 is constantly running out), so cannot really just hit print with full ink and get 50 prints. Expect to change an ink cartridge every 5 or 10 sheets or so. Seriously, Ink is basically free. If the cartridges printed 10x what they do (as claimed) I'd recommend it. But a box of photo paper costs hundreds of dollars to print. If price matters, don't buy canon. Ink is $15 x8 is 120 so $ for every 25 prints on average. With paper cost over $ for 100 full page prints.
If you are looking at this product then you have already purchased a printer that needs quality ink. I believe that this Canon ink does a Great job - I won't give it 5 stars only because it's not miraculous in taking one of my pictures and turning it into a Van Gogh.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Printer your fine art and photography on beautifully crafted, high quality paper.
