Comments about Tascam DV-RA1000HD High-Definition CD, DVD, and Hard Drive Recorder:
I did a lot of research on this unit and so far it is what I hoped that it would be. I am a tascam user and from my experience thier products have performed as advertised. I have only had it for almost 2 weeks. I've done a couple of quick mixes and I am very pleased with the results.

Comments about Tascam DV-RA1000HD High-Definition CD, DVD, and Hard Drive Recorder:
I use it to record vinyl.
Sound quality is excellent at 24/96. I would like to try 24/192 but am having trouble interfacing with my outboard DAC. The Tascam only outputs the high sampling rates via special 2xAES/EBU connectors and my DAC doesn't support this method.
Older reviews of this device mention a free download of a special version of DiskWelder Bronze that will allow conversion of DSD files to PCM but I did not see any offer when I registered the product.

Comments about Tascam DV-RA1000HD High-Definition CD, DVD, and Hard Drive Recorder:
I use Tascam in my recording studio and I just impressed of its quality. It sounds amazing; of course, if your mixdown sounds great. It is really easy to use it if you are familiar with pro audio gear. I really like their dynamics effects and their quality up to 192kHz/24-bit. Built-in hard drive just makes everything easier to use. I just love this unit.

Comments about Tascam DV-RA1000HD High-Definition CD, DVD, and Hard Drive Recorder:
This machine sounds great and has the feel of a serious recording device. The sound reproduction, especially in DSD mode is impressive. The unit feels rock solid.
I would've given it product 5 stars if the menus were easier to navigate. Things like naming a file are made tedious with only the Jog wheel. That said, it does have an input for a PC keyboard. Also the remote control, though very useful, is wired and that kinda stinks.
Over all there is nothing to complain about when it comes down to what this machine is made for and thats recording music/sound at a very very high quality.
I say: go for it!

Comments about Tascam DV-RA1000HD High-Definition CD, DVD, and Hard Drive Recorder:
after limited experience with the dvra1000hd i
would have to say that if you're looking for a
true standalone mastering recorder the alesis
masterlink is a better option. tascam incorporated
limited mastering tools in this machine and the
absence of a true peak limiter was a mistake.
i have had some luck using their compressor as a
limiter. i do like their compressor better than
the alesis and their eq is more trasparant. by
bouncing mixes between the two machines i have had great luck, but i wish the tascam machine
could dither down from 24 bit 96 khz, you also
must record effects on to the hard drive to burn them to cd without the option of adding them later. all in all not a bad machine but a little more thought and they would have had a stone cold
winner, hey tascam, how about a software upgrade.
