Comments about AKG K&M 254 Tripod Microphone Stand (Black):

Double usage as boom or stand, compact, inexpensive, light (if your going to get serious, put some 'sandbags' on tripod feet!)
Wife's happy, that's all that counts.

Comments about AKG K&M 254 Tripod Microphone Stand (Black):

I use this tripod with a clabratid microphone placed 1 meter from the cone of a bookshelf speaker mounted in the ceiling corner of a room. It is easy to adjust to the right height and position.

Comments about AKG K&M 254 Tripod Microphone Stand (Black):

Sturdy enough while fully extended to hold my Rode NT3, which isn't a terribly heavy mic, but has a lil' bit of heft to it. You might still want to sandbag it, though; this stand is very lightweight.

If you're looking for something light and compact, this is a really nice stand; it's solid and well constructed.
