The Minox 8x25 Macroscope is a unique miniature telescope that fits into the palm of your hand. It offers the user high optical performance and focuses extremely close. It is highly portable and useful for a multitude of activities. Whether you are a bird watcher, an insect observer, a star gazer, or a sport enthusiast, the Minox 8x25 macroscope is the best companion for you. This instrument is particularly useful for museums and art exhibitions due to its excellent macro capability.

This highly innovative, compact telescope body is designed by Volkswagen-Design. The 25mm objective lens diameter coupled with its porro prism yields to high-light transmission. The 8x25 Macroscope optics are specially multi-coated by the manufacturer to ensure bright images with high contrast and accurate color rendition. Minox incorporates the Quick Close Focus (QCF) in the 8x25 Macroscope, a highly developed focusing mechanism for accurate focusing found in their "High Grade" range binoculars. One single turn of less than 360-degrees of the telescope's focusing ring lets you achieve focus from close-up to infinity.

Compact and light-weight, this mini telescope is a little giant that features tough rubber armoring to protect it against everyday wear and tear. It is purged with Argon gas to minimize internal corrosion and prevent fogging during quick temperature changes. Also, it is waterproof to be completely submersible at depth of more than 15 feet. Its twist-up and twist-down eyecup is definitely favorable for eyeglass wearers.

Comments about 8x25 Macroscope Monocular (Black):

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this monocular. It's sharp, has good color and contrast. It's comfortable to hold, and easy to use. Exit diameter is OK- it's not hard to get the image to eye. I think it's a good value for the price. (you have to pay a lot more to get a little bit better).Things: the 'eyecup' rotates and extends about 3/8" (8mm) for normal use (don't extend if you use glasses). It comes with a sort of velour pouch to hold it. There's a mini carabiner for clipping it to you. It's a little fussy to get out of the pouch. Also, my pouch isn't really deep enough to fully protect the glass. The eyepiece is within the pouch, but only 'just'. I think I would have liked it better if it were another 1/2" deeper. No matter what, a lens will always be partially exposed in the pouch.Focus range and speed is good. Something I don't like about it is that when it's focused at infinity, there's still a fair amount of rotation left in the focus mechanism before it gets to the end. I assume that's to take care of diopter adjustment for different eyes? I'd like to be able to twist it to the end for infinity. As it is, there is probably 20°of over-rotation (and it's soft when you go past infinity-in my test the moon and stars). So, all things considered, I'd probably buy it again, but it could be a little better too.

Light, bright, smaller then binocular, fits jacket pocket.
Would be even better with bigger case and the lens cover.

Comments about 8x25 Macroscope Monocular (Black & Silver):

This is an excellent every day carry tool. Collectors should carry this for inspection of items as the 8x and close focus are very helpful at spotting defects/fake items.
clear sharp views outside and very compact when you don't/cant carry binoculars. I carry it always now.

My only concern is the case/pouch it really needs to be slightly larger to protect the scope. If the scope had lens caps it wouldn't matter as much but there is an padded night vision 3x lens case avail online that fits very well that I use for it, You should too

Definitely should be on your BUY list as a gift for you or someone else

I purchased this wonderful device a few weeks ago and I have to say that I am impressed! Excellent optics, pocketable, lightweight but good heft in the hand, weatherproof, easy to use, and the macro capability is excellent. Highly recommended. 'Nuff said.

and on the tundra flat brown and hard
to see. even tho its flat. I need to
know whats around me because we are in
bear country. the brown bear blends
in with the tundra marsh, so this helps

Comments about 8x25 Macroscope Monocular (Black):

I bought this to use 1) Outside in nature (bugs on flowers, etc.) and 2) In museums to examine works of art. It has good optics and lets in sufficient light, and it focuses as close as 14 inches, which allows you to see a lot of detail. The only two caveats are that the depth of field is shallow at 14 inches, and it can be difficult to hold it steady at that close magnification. (But the scope does allow a tripod.)

Comments about 8x25 Macroscope Monocular (Black):

                    Well crafted, close focusing monocular.
The draw-string pouch is adequate, but makes it a bit bulky. It would be more useful if it had lens caps so that it could be carried without a case and still protect the lenses. The monocular uses a porro prism design and is a bit bulky, especially in the case. Great for concerts or walking. Binoculars are still better for serious or extended viewing, but for short periods, a monocular is handy when you don't want to carry a larger item. The Minox has pretty shallow depth of field requiring careful focusing, but the focus ring is easy to use and comfortable. Finish and optics are very good and the monocular has a quality "feel" to it.
