I've been using LensCoat products for the last many years and would highly recommend them. Just yesterday I was walking through a wooded area and I can't tell you how many time my camera brushed up against a thorny bush or hanging branch. Bottom line, no scratches on my lens. After 2 years, still don't have to replace the product. Well worth every penny I spent.

I have a few of the LensCoat products as I want some protection for my gear and there is no alternative I’m aware of.Personally, I think LensCoat’s products are overpriced (and I don’t buy the [$] to protect $1000 is well spent philosophy, we are talking about neoprene that has a lining). Admittedly, I don’t know what their overhead is and perhaps these things are really hard to make.I think I feel this way as when I get the package and I pull out 3-4 pieces of LensCoat I feel I overspent. I say this because the workmanship//quality could be better, especially at that price. For example, the LensCoat for this lens (100-400) comes in several sections (due to lens design) but one of the sections is not tight enough and continually slips off (but I did not catch this in the B&H return window). The covers for the lens hoods are a little short. The windows that usually covers the switches of focus indicator (not applicable to the 100-400, but to others) is a tad too small as well and I feel could be better implemented.Bottom line, I recommend LensCoat begrudgingly (they have saved my lenses from some unexpected bumps) but I am seeking an alternative for less money. Or at least a better product for the same money.

Comments about Lens Cover for the Canon 100-400mm f/4-5.6 Lens (Digital Camo):

The focus ring cover continually slips off. Lenscoat needs to purchase something like the lenskins cover to protect this area. Its just too narrow for the neoprene.

          Overpriced for what you get.

The lock ring is hard to use.I ended up just taking it off.Other than that I would recommend this to anyone who wants that extra protection.

I bought this for a wildlife shoot in the German Black Forest and it proved to be very handy. The Lenscoat product turned my basic white Canon 70-300mm into a great Camouflage covered lens. I also purchased the the Realtree Max4 HD which was perfect for the misty woods.

This product was a big disappointment. First of all there are too many pieces. When moving the camera in and out of the bag it makes them quickly fold and slide off their intended positions. After using it for a week, I ended up removing the pieces and making my own. The pieces will not end back on my lens! It did not give much protection from rain either. The vulnerable parts where water can enter the lens is between moving parts. By only covering the individual parts, but not the areas between them, it is useless as protection towards moisture. The biggest disadvantage, however, is that it only covers most of the lens when in the 100 mm position, and not when extracted to its full length 400 mm. The white part acts like a warning flag on wildlife when extracting the lens! When I made my own cover, It is in two parts, one covering the outer moving part and one overlapping part covering the rest. The inner slides on top of the outer to reduce the chance that moisture during rain or snow runs down between the pieces when carrying the camera with the lens pointing downwards. My advice: don´t waste your money on this, there are other and better alternatives on the market, or you can do like me, make your own!

Comments about Lens Cover for the Canon 100-400mm f/4-5.6 Lens (Digital Camo):

Seems expensive at first, but if need be I will replace the cover if it wears out.The cover keeps the bare metal of the lens from freezing your hands when the temps drop. It adds some impact and scratch resistance. And when in the bush, it keeps you from standing out.Works well, fits like a glove. If you take your 100-400mm into the field, it is a no brainer-get it.[@]

I can't afford 'big glass'. So I depend on blending into the environment to get closer to birds and wildlife. The cover also provides a nice grip and feel that allows for smooth operation of the lens on my monopod and when handheld.

My gear is constantly getting banged around and I like the protection the neoprene offers. This lens tends to get cold quickly when shooting outside and the LensCoat is like a barrier making more comfortable to handle over longer periods of time.

Really helps hide the outline of my "white" lens from jumpy wildlife.... Also good extra protection from the dings and nicks I put my equipement through slogging through the forest + fields...... My only complaint is the adhesive on the small strips don't stick as well as they should - had to add a touch of glue on one of them....

I like the idea that when out shooting wildlife my lens isn't white.... however, so far I have had issue keeping all sections on when pulling from my camera backpack. Also, the smaller pieces roll or slide so hard to use the rings.

a lot thinner than i thought it would be. More dress up than protection and i wasnt so pleased finding out i would have to glue it to my lens. The smaller bands were very flimsy. Seems like a good 25 dollar item, not for 100.

It was more than what i had expected to receive. it fitted well on the lens and provides a good grip to it. I just love how the overall lens look now with the coat.

I use this lens cover on my Canon 100-400mm zoom. It sure makes the lens blend into the foliage.
