Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

The Qnexus works as it's intended to sync the Qflash with an existing flash - in my case a Nikon SB900. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I think it's a little pricey for, basically, a slave. It does make the Qflash TTL-compatible; however, other, more versatile radio controllers serve the same function and can be used with other flashes.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

There's some negative press about the Qnexus adaptor on various forums. After using it I cannot understand the negatives.

I plugged it in to my T5d-R, set it for Nikon, set it to match my Nikon SB-900 flash channel (CLS settings on the Nikon flash) and poof. It worked.

That was it - no fuss and no troubles.

Exposure compensation from my D700 controlled both my SB-900 and the Quantum with Qnexus. Ratios worked - everything worked.

All I needed to finish up and get shooting was to do a white balance.

This gizmo is a no brainer if you want to blend your existing shoe mount flash with the higher power / better quality of a Quantum qflash.

The only real problem is - the quality of light is better from the Quantum - it makes me want more Quantum heads!

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

I have always liked the Qflash, but when I learned about the Qnexus, it made my decision. I use the Nikon Creative Lighting System a whole lot and the Qnexus integrates the T5d-r into that system. So I bought both of them!

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

While this is the first wireless flash adapter I have used and it appears to my uneducated eye to work well, what impressed me more was the reaction of the pros (who have been doing this a lot longer than I have) who helped me set up and test the QNexus -- it did what it was supposed to do and responded well when used as a slave unit off of my SB800. Exposures were correct when used as the main light or bounced off the wall or ceiling.

I would give this thing 5 stars if it could get the Quantum to do high speed sync. Other than that it integrates my Q flashes into Nikon's infra red system really well. I use it for quick location portrait sessions, but it won't replace radio stuff by any stretch.

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

The Canon 580 is a good flash, but not known for it's power. The Quantum flash is known for it's power. Therefore combining the two gives the power to light large groups or reception halls. When you need the "low light look", the 580 alone is fine. But when you need depth of focus and a good working f/stop like 11 or 8, the two flshes together get you there.
It is possible to misfire because of the Infrared signal, and not being a "radio system". But most of the time it is "way cool".

Comments about Quantum Instruments Qnexus TTL Wireless Adapter for Qflash 5d-r:

I looked at this module as a way to integrate and automate the balancing of my Qflash T5Dr with my Nikon SB-800's for wedding/event and portable ad hoc studio usage. Everything they say on the QTM website is true! this works seamlessly with the Nikon Creative Light System, and the quality of the light and exposure accuracy are dead on.

Easily switched between Nikon and Canon, and Channels/Groups.

I have some friends with Canon, and we will test it this weekend, but I have no reason to doubt it will work as well.

Since the range of the Nikon and Canon IR signals are limited to about 60', I will be getting the FreexWire Receiver and Transmitter for those cases that I need more reach.

I Believe in Wireless TTL now!
