The Tokina Fisheye 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 AT-X 107 DX Lens was designed exclusively for use with digital SLR cameras with a DX-sized sensor, and combines "full-frame fisheye" (180° diagonal angle of view at a focal length of 10mm) to super wide-angle performance in a single unit.

This lens makes it possible to capture images with an expanded perspective - wider than the human eye can see - including creative deformation of subjects and sharp pan focus that extends throughout the entire frame.

Autofocusing with this lens is not supported with Nikon DSLRs without a built-in autofocus motor, such as the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, and D5200.

Ultra Wide Angle
This lens enables the shooting of full-frame fisheye images with a 180° angle of view and a focal length of 10mm. Furthermore, the lens offers super wide-angle performance that allows photographer to make use of dramatic changes in angle of view resulting from slight changes in focal length.
Equivalent focal length of 15mm-25.5mm in 35mm format, when used with Nikon digital SLR cameras.
High Optical Performance
Employing ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, this lens effectively compensates to overcome chromatic aberration throughout the image. And with improved optical architecture and a ghost-free lens coating, ghosting and flare are suppressed to produce clear, high-quality images.
Exclusive Digital Design
The image circle of the lens has been created to match the smaller image recording area of digital SLR cameras. This ensures precise optical performance ideally suited to the camera's digital imaging characteristics.
WP Coating
WP (Water Proof) coating made of a special fluoride compound has been applied to the front surface of the new lens through the use of a unique evaporation process. As a result, the lens offers excellent water- and oil-repellent performance and makes for easier cleaning should the lens be accidentally smeared with fingerprints or cosmetics.
Super Macro
An internal focus system allows photographers to focus from as close as approx. 1" (approx. 2.5 cm), giving them the power to fill the whole frame with surprisingly small subjects.
Quick-Shift Focus System
The Quick-Shift Focus System allows to instantly shift to manual focus once the subject is captured by AF.

I had alway felt that a fisheye lens had limited practical photographic use. However,I decided to purchase this Tokina fisheye zoom as a complimentary lens for my Tokina 12-24mm zoom. I shoot a lot of landscape scenic's and architecture stuff, having a "fisheye" in my bag can add a little more dramatic impact if needed.
At the moment my current fisheye is a 35 year old "Kenko" 180 degree supplemental lens that screws into front of a prime lens. It's awkward to set up and combersome to use.
The Tokina 10-17mm is a small lightweight lens
(12.3 Oz. vs 1.2Lb. Tokina 12-24 zoom) There is vignetting at the 10mm setting, stopping down you can see the outer rim of the lens hood in the upper left and lower right of the frame. Vignetting disappears at the 12mm position.
At full open aperture, center resolution appears to be sharp, but softens near the outer edges of the frame (full zoom range). Stopping down 2 stops increases overall image sharpness
dramatically. I find overall sharpness to be best at the f.8-11-16 range.
Auto focus seems to be a bit slow, I prefer manual focus most of the time. There is no auto focus clutch on the lens body, to disengage I have to shift the lever on my D-80 body.
There seems to be noticeable chromatic aberration fringing in some high contrast portions of images, can be eliminated in my photo editing program. The 10mm setting requires some tight cropping to eliminate vignetting.
The protruding front glass element acts as a dust magnet/fingerprint monster if you are not carefull, the short lens hood helps somewhat, but it is not removeable.
Instruction sheet says that filters are not
usable for this fisheye. However, I have found a way to attach filters to front of the lens.
I like to use D-polarizers in my work. I carefully screw a 58-77mm step up filter ring into the threads of the lens hood, I also use a tiny bit of rubber cement on the threads to help hold the step up ring in place, then screw in the 77mm polarizer, or any other filter. Just be carefull not to knock the front of the lens against anything as this setup is not that secure.
This only works beginning at the 13mm position, otherwise you get vignetting back to 10mm. I have used this, and it works!
Overall, I consider this to be a worthy fisheye zoom for the price and would recommend it to a friend.

This fisheye is great on the fly covers 180 degrees of coverage! Its the only kind of fisheye that is a zoom! Its a really good lens when its stopped down too f/5.6 to f/8! Videos is great too! Only problem i can say that i see a lot mostly in bright areas is Purple Fringing,You can always fix it in post editing for the photos but its also on Videos too! This is great price lens when you just need a fisheye since the recent increase in price in nikon glass!

Good Lens Could be better Does the Job!

I purchased this lens to use in the ocean. I have a Nikon D7000 and SPL Waterhousing. The lens is great! This is my second Tokina lens (first being the 11-16mm). They have great build quality and the images are clear and sharp.

I use this lens with my D7000. I use it for my Freedive Underwater Photography. It's great for underwater landscape. I don't use any artificial lighting. I don't like the fact that it won't focus in Live Mode... I wish Nikon and Tokina could fix this...

This is an all around great fisheye lens. I had debated between this lens and the Nikon 10.5mm fisheye. I chose this one at the last minute due to the zoom. Your not stuck at a fixed focal length. I am not new to photography but I am new when it comes to using fisheye lenses. I am still learning and having a blast with this lens. It has some amount of CA (depending on focal length) which can easily be fixed in post processing. Personally that does not bother me. The build quality is excellent and you can tell due to the weight. This lens works well with my Nikon D7000. No regrets.

I use this in my underwater housing for Marine photos and above ground for architecture and landscapes. I bought this lens as a replacement for the first one. I purchased after that set of gear was stolen in a smash and grab burglary of my car. Only drawback is the field of view is so wide that you have to be careful to keep your toes out of the shot.

I recentely purchased this lens to use for underwater photograhpy. All I can say is wow! The lens takes great pictures..even though I did not have the correct port. This is the first Tokina lens and I went with this over the Nikon 10.5 due to more flexability with the 10-17mm. I would buy other TOkina lens after trying this one. It appears to be really well made, since I have only used twice so far, it's a little tough tell how well it stand up to use.

The lens allowed me to get extremely close and get great detail and cover a lot of the animal. It has a good feel and I would recommend it for this application.

I have returned this lens. I tried to use it with my Nikon D90, but just could not stand that awful thick blue fringe visible on ALL images

Because there are no straight lines underwater, this fisheye is the perfect lens to capture as much in the frame as possible without distortion. Fantastic piece of glass.

                                Solid build quality.
The only zoom fisheye out there.
The only fisheye you'll probably need.

This is a superb lens for wide angle underwater photography. Zoom gives you a lot of flexibility.

I bought this for underwater photography specifically because it's one inch focusing distance allows for incredible wide angle closeups. Its important to get closeup to a subject with uw strobes to preserve clarity and good color. If you add a teleconverter you can boost its macro capabilities even further. I did notice that it had some trouble autofocusing in low light levels with poor contrast (such as divers wearing black wetsuits against a dark water background.). But it's really the most versatile uw wide angle lens available.

I bought this to use with my new Nikon D3100. The description says that it doesn't work with the D40 and D60 however there's no communication to the D3100. I didn't find this in any reviews at the time and it's a bit disappointing.

CPU aside, it's a great price for a fisheye zoom and takes quality pics and feels solid.
